I've heard that it's important to choose the correct color/shape of glasses for your skin color and facial shape. I've looked around online for some help, but it's hard to decide whether my face is oval or square or diamond or triangular or whatever when it's your own face!
I have some really blah pictures of my face for you all to decide... I really need some advice! (And please, don't tell me to get my eyebrows waxed or anything-- I have low self-esteem regarding appearances and I really am not looking for beauty tips for anything other than glasses, thanks). Pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() Please thumb your images if needed (when they stretch the board). To do this, use the following code: CODE [thumb]image url[/thumb] :)

I've been wearing glasses since 2nd grade. Sometimes I wear contacts, but soon I'll be getting a different kind due to my allergies.
It's hard for me to find glasses that I'm pleased with. but now I try them on with my contacts so I don't have to see them fuzzy like. lol. They usually have people there to help you... but I guess I would just suggest to try them on, because what looks good on someone else with your same face shape might not always flatter certian features. |

Yeah, I've been cursed with glasses since I was five. Sadly, they're bifocals, so contacts aren't really an option... |

I'm still trying to get used to wearing contacts. I know it sounds stupid but it's kind of like your glasses become a part of you and seeing yourself with them makes you look strange.

When my friends see me without glasses they say I look... different :P I think I look a lot better without them than with them. |

Like the people above me, Iv'e been wearing glasses for practically my whole life. I don't have contacts tho. But what I do is just go to the place where I'm getting my glasses from and try on the ones that I like, if they look good on me, then that's the one I'm getting. I usually choose from 5 pairs and then narrow it down.

i think you should get those black rimmed glasses. i've seen a few people that look kind of like you and they look nice with black rimmed glasses.
let me find a pic. ![]() they're not exactly how i pictured it to look, but it's the closest to my opinion. ![]() |

Yyyeah, that's what I do too (what everyone does), but this definitely doesn't answer my question, lol. What else do you want? I highly doubt that people on this site are going to efficiently describe (in detail) what glasses best fit you. You have to get your arse down to where you're going to get your glasses and guess and check with the frames there. For the shape, anyways. As for the color, I'm sure it depends on a lot of what you wear. I, for instance, have two pairs of glasses - pink and black ones. I wear both a lot of pink and a lot of black, so my glasses can match pretty much anything I wear. Generally, brown and black frames go with anything, so you'd be safe with that. And don't double post. It's only been an hour since your last one. The Girls' Locker is slow (if you haven't noticed). |

The general "rule" for glasses are to pick your opposite, e.g., if you have a very round face, go for rectangular frames, as they balance out the roundness. And so on.

As Kathleen said, the best thing for you to do is pound the streets. I am VERY particular when it comes to glasses (been wearing them since I was 16, I think which was a loooong time ago).
The last time I picked out a pair, I went to FIVE different places and it took me over a week to decide. That may be way too anal, but glasses are expensive (good ones typically are) and you're stuck with them for a long time. As far as surface advice goes, I would stay as far away, I mean like... another galaxy away from wire rims with your facial structure. Black rimmed would work, but don't go too thick. Janeane Garofolo can get away with it, ![]() not many others can. |

Everyone else seems to be willing to describe (or even post pictures of!) glasses-- I think it's just you that has a problem. And of course I'm actually GOING to the glasses place, but like I said in my first post, it's hard to decide what looks good on yourself And double-posting never hurt anyone, so chill. |

mine are rectanglar ones~ All i know is that ppl with long faces should go with round / oval glasses.
People who have round faces, should choose rectangle shaped frames.\ Whereas colours, u have to go there urself & try the lot on! I know it sounds annoying, but I spent ages trying all the different colours / styles~ We can't really give u opinions or anything specific coz we're not the ones who will be wearing those glasses. U gotta go & try them out for uself & see which one u like. |

The best suggestion is to go to the eye doctor, and try on any pairs you really like and the last decisions is always going to be yours. What ever you like and think looks best on you. Not what we think may be right.

Not what we think may be right. Of course :) But it's really hard to tell on yourself. And I'm used to my current glasses (which I guess I don't think look very good- too big) so any new glasses will look so different that I'll think they look bad... I don't know. It's hard to tell on yourself, especially when you're not used to the new look. |
