When I change my volume on my laptop I have no visual indicator showing how high or low my volume is. So basically Im shooting blind everytime I hit the volume buttons.
I have an HP, with Windows XP proffessional. Is there anyway I can get it so there is a graphic indicator of what my volume is at without just leaving the volume control window open? |

Click on the arrow on the taskbar and you should see a speaker thing.
Click on the speaker (click once) and you'll see the volume bar. You can probably change the volume from there. |

Well two things.
1) Nothing comes up when I click once. EDIT: It comes up, but takes a while. Probably because IM loading music into my iTunes. 2) I was thinking more along the lines of something that would automatically come up when I changed the volume via buttons on my laptop. |

QUOTE Things get a little more complicated with laptops, because they may have dedicated volume control keys, or they may have key-combinations that perform the same function. The manufacturer of the keyboard software may, or may not, elect to include an on-screen display. QUOTE The only real advice I have is to check the control panel applets for both your keyboard and sound card. Look around for options that might control the on-screen display. There are so many different manufacturers that it's possible that some allow you some control, and perhaps default it off. http://ask-leo.com/why_dont_i_have_an_onsc..._indicator.html What's the brand of your laptop? That website says that some brands don't have volume indicators. You could probably download something for it in the company website though. |

Oh come on, can't you just use your imagination? I'm telling ya, kids these days. Back when I was a little boy, we didn't have these fancy volume indicators. In fact, we didn't have computers to listen music to. If we wanted to listen to something, we'd rub stones against our ears. We'd know how loud it was by how much it hurt. And we enjoyed every bit of it! Spoiled brats these days. And if you try to tell them kids this, they won't believe you!

Even old TVs you could tell how loud the volume was by the big ass knob and how far right or left it was. |
