A thinner design. Five stylish colors. A brighter display. Up to 24 hours of battery life. Just about the only thing that hasn’t changed is the name. In 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB models starting at $149, iPod nano puts up to 2,000 songs in your pocket.(1)

QUOTE
The New Nano, with 8GB, is $249. fair enough. I don't understand how the 30GB regular ipod is also $249

in my opinion: its so ugly. i want to old shiny black and white back

[edit]
didn't see this but, the ipod video 5.5G is out, 80 gigs now [link]

It looks like.. the iPod mini. Except wayy smaller.

I would want it.. My 2GB iPod Nano doesn't even have enough space to store my top 400 songs, let alone the other 1,600.

And it has 24 hour battery life too. That'd be useful for plane rides.

It's not that ugly. It's ok looking.

I have a question though.. Where's your source?
Nevermind.. It was at the Apple Store..

IT COMES IN LIME GREEN NOWWW! That's awesome. I wish they'd make one in orange. =/

The new iPod shuffle looks cool too.

I WANT TO TRADE IN MINE FOR A GREEN 4GB ONE! cry.gif
But it doesn't fit into any of the old cases anymore, right? sad.gif

Yeah, when I first saw it, I was like ... iPod mini ... but obviously smaller and thinner. I don't think it's THAT much different than the original Nano. I dunno.

^ ITS AWESOMER THAN THE ORIGINAL IPOD NANO THOUGH!

It gets 24 hour battery life and it comes in different colors. And it costs less now.

My iPod is more colorful (the case), but I want it for the battery life and the storage space.

It's hard going on a 12 hour flight without music.. My iPod goes like 6 hours and it dies =/
The new one has 24 hour battery life, so that'd be enough to last a whole flight.

so mad lol. its alright though i knew they were coming out with something new later on. imma stick with my old nano its still good even though the battery sucks like ass.

how much thinner is it than the old one, imma look it up but i doubt it cant be that much thinner.

iguess they learned from their previous mistakes a little cause the battery life is supposedly longer.

but the shuffle is slightly attractive. looks oddish. but we.

^ The old iPod nano was 1.6 x 3.5 x 0.27 inches.
The new one is 1.6 x 3.5 x 0.26 inches.

They also made the new one because of all those complaints about scratching.

I'm seriously thinking about just getting this one. A 1GB used to be the same price as a 2GB. Love the price and battery life.

My regular nano only lasted like...4-6 hours if I played it nonstop. I wish it came in black though. _dry.gif

I actually prefer this one over the original nano, the shine on the original nano shows a lot of smudge marks, although on this new one, since' it's not shiny anymore, there would be no more smudge marks.

i like the first gen nanos. i don't like the curved sides. it does look like a nano-sized mini.

the shuffle is cool, though. it's the smallest mp3 player out right now.

80 gig ipod? that's more than my computer holds!!!

I might be forced to buy the new high-capacity iPod(The 80GB). My 30GB Creative NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra just ran out of space the other day(It didn't actually run out, I still have a whopping 6MB left). I've read about replacing the hard disk in it, but to open it up you need a Phillips screwdriver smaller than size 0, and I honestly don't have a clue where to find one. (Well I have a clue, I suppose)

When I first bought my MP3 player my only restriction on what I could buy was that it couldn't be an iPod. But since Creative no longer offers a comparable player with the capacity I'm looking for, I've been backed into a corner. Not even Microsoft's competing product, the Zune, which hasn't been released, will satisfy my needs.

As far as the new Nano, it simply looks like they took the old iPod mini and shrunk it. I think they'll become more popular due to the colors available, but I'm never good at predicting market trends. I was among the group with thought that the iPod shuffle was a huge blunder when it was released. Clearly, I was wrong.

Thats not an iPod shuffle, thats a MobiBlu DAH-1500. Or at least thats what I suspect you saw. There was never a version of the iPod shuffle in a cube form.

Thats actually a selling method, when they refresh everything. I work for hollister and we would get new stuff in every week which was annoying. They know kids come in just to look for new stuff and they buy it. So people want new stuff, and we constantly got in new stuff, so im guessing ipod will continue to make different kinds of ipod...

You can't really expect a company to stop coming out with newer versions. If a product line stagnates, it doesn't create new revenue; and it's much more expensive to create a new product than redesign an existing one.

Of course, it does not go to say that, because a company releases new products, consumers must buy them, even if their existing version is perfectly functional. In layman's terms, I have an iPod that's about three years old with which I am perfectly satisfied, and have not had a desire to buy a new one.

Theres something not right about all 3 of these. The new and "Improved" iPod, the G2 and that new shuffle.

Oh wait I know what it is, they're made by apple.

iPod fanidiots and everyone in the world except me and a couple others rejoice.

Whats up with that shuffle? That thing was just a terrible idea from the start. You know whats smaller, better and has aton of more features? Without being complicated, and has a touch dial thing that you idiots love? Tactile Buttons kick ass you nubs.

THANKS GUYS. imma go search for these idrops. lol.

I JUST BOUGHT SOME YAY. lol i will tell you guys if they work or not, they said they will ship them the same day as i bought them.

EDIT

I just got in my idrops and they worked but the catch is patience. Um it took me an hour and a half to get my scratches off, the idrops costed me 14.95 and it was fast delivery and they were really nice, they said thank you like a bajillion times through the whole ordering process. even though this took longer than life i am still happy with it. the idrops worked. just took time. and i still have more than half the bottle left.

Even though they worked it still didnt get all of my scratches, there are still like 2 scratches left but i will eventually get them out sooner or later. i was just lazy.

I've always like the design of the mini better, with the aluminum-ish casing. It just feels a lot better and you don't get all those fingerprints. Scratching is also less frequent.

The silver doesn't look that nice, but I like the look of the colors and the black one. I need more room than 8gb, otherwise I'd definitely consider one. :)

I agree, it does basically look like a stretched out/squished mini, but eh. I never really liked the look of the mini, but whether you like it or not.. if you care about your iPod at ALL it will be in a case, yeah?

I had the 4GB black 1stgen nano, and I traded it out for the 8GB 2ndgen (also black, duh). It was the same price and I was still on my 90 days for the first iPod, so with Radio Shack I got an even exchange.

The screen definitely is noticeably brighter, the battery has lasted me since I got it (a week after it came out) on the first charge, and there actually are a lot of new features. The earbuds are nice, and I love that they snap in - if you drop it, the earbuds don't just pop out, they stay. And the old earbuds were really uncomfortable, I like these a lot. Plus the extra storage.. I can't tell you how happy I am. I was happy with the first iPod, and now I've got a much better one.

I'm thinking of buying an iPod...I'd like the capacity of the iPod Video, but the appearance and size of the Nano, so I dunno...I'm thinking of going with the Video, but I'm still unsure.

Anyone who has the new iPod Nano or improved iPod Video, would you recommend buying either one? Any pros and cons you have?

XD.gif this ipod shuffle and nano looks better
but its getting smaller and smaller
it is so small it will be easier to loose
therefore you buy another one and make the company more richer _dry.gif
Don't get me wrong i like ipods its just that i wouldn't buy a new one.
I have the ipod nano and as long as it works and plays songs... Im alright with the old one... im not updating it just for the fashion =P

i own the firstgen [black; 2gigs] & secondgen [sliver, 2gigs] and i like the second gen more =)
brighter screen, longer battery life, and more scratch resistant than the first.
and the headphones, they're much better than the first one they released.
the bass doesn't die out&become a rattling annoyance after the first five minutes of using it on full blast. :D
apple's selling them for $30, or so.
the only thing that sucks is that there's not that many accessories out for the secondgen [that i've seen] and you can't use many firstgen cases on secondgen, or it'll just.. eh. fall off/be loose. unless you use a leather one. but who needs a case if it barely gets scratched? :)
