how do you use patterns such as the ones from this site: http://squidfingers.com/patterns/

i understand you use it for your artwork....but...in what stage? when or how do you insert it? can someone show me an example of how someone used a pattern for their artwork plz? blink.gif blink.gif blink.gif

What program do you use? I know how to use patterns well in Photoshop. There isn't a specific stage where a pattern should be used; it depends on what you want to do with the image. So use it however, whenever you want.

I most often see them used as layout backgrounds and on banners. I've used them often in avatars and I have easy access to them so I'll just show some examples of what I've made with patterns:

The little swirls and lines you see in white are a pattern I used off of the site you linked. I just used a blend mode other than normal to make it appear faded.

ooooo. well i use photoshop cs2 as well.....don't you have to use the paint bucket to insert a pattern? i know i used stripes before...i think?

Oh, alright. Yes, you use the paint bucket tool. What I do is open all the pattern images I've saved, click the paint bucket tool and make each into a pattern (from menu, Edit>Define Pattern). Do the same for multiple images and then turn that into a pattern file.

thanks darlin. i used one from the default patterns on cs2 for my new dA id. check it out =)
