ok last night i did something really stupid. there was this problem with me and this girl and i ended up apologizing. every one of my friends said i was stupid for saying sorry because it was obvious that it was the other girl's fault. i hate myself for being too nice and a pushover. i cant believe i gave in and ended up saying sorry. i know i didnt stand up for myself and now i look like a loser. i have no reason to be mad at anyone but myself. now it's too late to do anything about it. has that ever happened to anybody? if you do something u regret, and then there's nothing u can do to change it? i am such a loser. and the thing is, i cant let it go. i cant forgive myself for it. what should i do?

Theres not much you can do about it.
Whats done is done. At lease you were brave enough to say sorry, even though it was that persons fault. OR when she ticks you off and can say, "You know what! I take my apologie back." |

For me, I never regret anything. Because what is done is done, you can't change what happened so it's pointless to moan over the past. Instead hope that in the future, you will know better, etc.

Question: If your friends would have pat you on the back and said you did the right thing would you regret it then? If not then your feelings are just being controlled by your friends.
If you thought that either way, then change it. It's one thing to regret, because you can't changed what happened, but you can change yourself to prevent that mistake. |

Eh, I get called a pushover all the time.
Its starting to bother me in a way. I get over it of course though. I use to say sorry for everything. Wouldn't ever accept any apology from anyone else but I could be sorry even though it was not even close to my fault. I still do it actually. First off though, your not a loser. Your a human being that makes mistakes just like everyone else, the first step that you need to take is getting a little more self-esteem and know that your only human and you make mistakes and you have to accept them. Because you can only learn by making mistakes. Just move on, you can go back to her and say that it was her fault and she needs to know that. If she doesn't then do you think she'll learn her lesson from what ever she did? |

Um, yeah, you see, saying sorry when you didn't mean to is not as big a deal as you're making it out to be. Just don't do it next time and stand your ground. It'll all blow over VERY SOON, im sure. You really should just let it go and remember it next time as a guideline.

I say sorry all the time. Even when it isn't my fault. I am compelled to do it though. It is a bad habit.

Of course I regret stuff. But I always think of how different it would be if it actually happened. But ANYWAYS, for me it`s hard to say because I don`t really know your situation.

i think everybody regrets doing something they've done at least once in their life. or at least, for a tiny moment, they think, DANG I WISH I HADN'T DONE THAT LIKE THAT...
i agree with the first replier, when she makes you mad again, take your apology back. that's pretty much all you can do. for now, just move on. |

Yeah, everyone does stupid things. Don't let them effect you. You need to learn from them. I call this the hot stove principle.
Hot Stove Princple: The story: There once was a boy who's father told him that the stove was hot and that he shouldn't touch the stove or he will get burned. The boy was curious, and instead of listening to his fathers advice he applied his hand to the hot stove and burned it. Moral: You can learn to do things one of two ways. You can learn from the wisdom and expierence of others, or (if you need to) you can learn from your own expierence. Either way, you will learn. Don't regret what you have learned from. |
