Hey, does anybody know a good open source music ripper? I have lots of opensource/free music players, (VLC, Gom Player, Etc). But I need a good music ripper. Preferably something that would rip music in many different formats. (OGG, WMA, Mp3). Also, a good open source music converter would help too. Aparantly everything needs an mp3 license...

As in ripping music from CDs...?

Windows Media Player does that. All you have to do is set the options.
I think you have to upgrade it though. To WMP 10 or 11.

QUOTE
In general, open source refers to any program whose source code is made available for use or modification as users or other developers see fit. (Historically, the makers of proprietary software have generally not made source code available.) Open source software is usually developed as a public collaboration and made freely available.

SongBird can import CD audio tracks into itself using the Open File command. I'm not sure if thats really what you want, but point being its open source and maybe something you'd want to look into.

Theres a reason Why I wanted Opensource, and not WMP. WMP only rips in WMP and copy protected WMP. Musicmatch, only does mp3. Etc etc. Opensource gives me a whole choice of options, while giving me a billion more features as well.

http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/

trust me.

if you want any CD ripper, this one should be it. it can read most any CD. i have been able to read badly scratched and copy protected CDs with it.

(no, this is not copy protection circumvention. copy protection works by inducing errors in computer drives but not regular CD players- and this program is made for correcting errors. )
