I am totally NEW to LJ and my layout is being really weird. I also want to get rid of the advertisements.

What do you mean your layout is being really weird? What is specifically wrong with it? What are you trying to do with it?
To remove advertisements, switch back to a basic account (which has no ads) on this page: http://livejournal.com/manage/payments |

Ok so my layout is supposed to look like this.

I actually don't see anything wrong with the layout; you have to input your own custom information into the coding where it says "Write about yourself here!" and to get it to actually show up, you must have a website listed in your profile. To get an image at the top of your journal, you'd have to create/upload one of your own.
Soo... what's wrong with your layout? |
