Don't buy a Compaq/HP whatever you do.
In order to get it repaired should something go wrong, you'd have to pay an extra fee for tech support. DONT DO IT. Oh, and Dells aren't "bad" but I wouldn't recommend them. Or Mac's. Or whatever model computer I have right now. Just.......send smoke signals. |

Honestly?
I really don't know, I think I just wanted to tell you what not to get. But really a computer is a computer regardless. I've just had so many problems with compaq/hp Go for a Dell, they aren't "OMGZ SUPER COMPUTREX" but they'll do for what you want to do with them AND, they seem to be pretty cheap these days, especially good ones. Unless there's a sudden surge in the market. Or whatever effects that. |

Toshiba is cheap. You have to be careful with the keyboard though.. I broke mine.
Get one with XP Media Center with a good graphics and sound card. And a good proceser with 516+ RAM. I LOVE ALIENWARE x845458435719. Their laptops are expensive though. And desktops. But they're really powerful. You can actually get terrabytes.. Up to 2.5TB on desktops (and 240GB on laptops), I think. And terrabytes are like virtually unlimited. Which is why I love Alienware. But you probably shouldn't get it 'cause you'll only be using it for basic things. Buy Alienware if you use it for gaming and stuff. So I recommend Toshiba. |

Dell is good, and MACs are awesome, but not too cheap.

I recommend Dell; I have one myself and it's pretty reliable. They're not THE best, but they work well for me.
