I think you take cheer to serious. Its just 1 practice. Dont go to school that day n say you were sick but go to the concert.

it's on a school day and my coach gets pretty pissed if you go to school and not practice.

my parents wouldn't let me skip school for a concert. (although they did this one time....)
we're a competition team. so if you're gone one day, it really hurts the team.

believe me i would skip practice in a heartbeat if i could figure out a way to do it.

so basically the only way i'm going is if i lie about a family member dying... _dry.gif

lie.

go to the school nurse early in the day, and say that you're feeing sick, but you're going to try and tough it out for the rest of hte school day but ask for some sort of note to get off of practice, to rest so that you feel better for the next day, find yor coach to explain (try to cry) and go home after classes

then, concerty goodness.

blink.gif wow. that's actually a really good idea if my coach wasn't such a practice nazi. unless you are puking and/or have a fever, she wants you at practice. if i don't come up with any better ideas i'll probably try it.

that, or ditch school. whistling.gif

To be honest, I'd just not go to school for the entire day.

But don't listen to me, I'm a bad example. >_>

you're totally right, the easiest thing to do is to not go to school, but that would require my parents approval.

it sucks. the day that i don't have practice they're in san diego, no one wants to drive me to san diego.

Which is more important-- a concert or being on the team? Weigh this carefully, because really, you may want to go to the concert now, but you'll probably forget about it in the near future. If the concert's more important, then just quit the team. When you join something like that, you will always have to make sacrifices, and then may just have to be something you have to learn to sacrifice.

Then fake it. It's not that difficult.

I know what you mean. Band is getting in the way of more things I want to do..arghh. If it were practices, I'd try to skip, but for games and competitions I really can't.

you're probably right. i haven't let practice get in the way of going to concerts before. i'll probably figure something out. but i guess the bottom line of everything is that there'll be other concerts. missing this one isn't going to be the end of the world.

hmmm... fever?

you could try the flashlight trick, maybe?

but your coach might wonder why you've got a thermometer actually with you...

---

or, if worse comes to worse, just take off after class, get a friend to say you've been sick all day, and just handle the coach next day, when you can apologize (again, try to cry and just say you were really down, felt soooo tired and icky, etc) without having to actually LOOK sick.

^*nods* If the concert is worth it, facing your coach shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Why not have a parent call her and tell her you can't make it? Take advantage of that while you can, once you're in college the professors won't take your parents seriously.

I would just skip school despite my parent's approval, Life's about risk taking, doing things you've never imagined doing. Like all of them were saying 1 practice 1 day aint that muchbut if your going to stay in school and miss a concert that rarely comes to your area not for another months or so. I'd just go. F**k school lol. But its your choice.

I hate it when things like that happens. hug.gif

I remember when I had piano lessons, and during this one weekend, was my friend's birthday. She planned to have a hummer limo pick up all of our friends and drive around on the strip then go ride the rollercoasters at the New York New York and the Adventuredome. I couldn't make it though, because my mom wouldn't let me skip on one piano lesson that day. cry.gif

I KNOW!!!! at home what you should do is like get plain yogurt and put like hella nasty stuff in it like pieces of hard boil eggs, cheerios, and quaker oats and anything that might reek the next day and kinda look like throwup. then slip it in the microwave for a while and set it outside. overnite its like going to REEK then get some shirt that you dont like and take your pe clothes. ask your teacher if you can go to the bathroom like almost when skool is over and rub all that junk on that shirt and change into something else. then go to your coach and show her that you threw up on your shirt and you changed into your pe clothes. i did that to get out of my pe class for the day lol.

You've put a lot of thought into that. laugh.gif Reminds me of Ferris Bueller a bit.

Eh, I guess I don't have much advice to give since I would more than likely let my son skip school if the concert was worth it.

Of course, I'm sure I'll be spending more time than I would ever want to explaining my parental methods to principals, teachers, PTA, etc... _unsure.gif

Here's a good idea. Suck it up. You should have known what responsibilities when you signed up for cheerleading. Go to class, go to your cheerleading and miss the concert.

I hope you haven't been telling people how sad you were going to be to miss the concert or anything..because that's how people get busted. ermm.gif

If you are mysteriously sick on the day of the concert...people will get suspicious. And there is always gonna be that girl with the big mouth thats gonna say something.

I think you should start getting "sick" a couple days earlier..like start coughing and shit. And saying you feel tired and stuff.

I'm trying to do the same thing on September 8th, to go the Chris Brown Concert. I have to miss a Step Team practice and work.
The only people who ive told were my family. sometimes my mom is cool enough to let me do stuff like this. so maybe she'll be in a good mood. you do step team? thats so awesome.

our cheer schedule is always up for changes though. she's canceled them randomly before. so there's always that chance. maybe there'll be a fire again and then we won't be able to have practice. lols.

oh well ill probably end up sucking it up. but its fun listening to your guys' ideas and ditch stories.
