I'm new here and was interested in submitting a skin or skins. Does anyone know if there are any restrictions on what can and can't be used - from a trademark/copyright POV.

For example, can we legally create a skin using Disney characters, photos of band members, logos like Coca Cola, symbols like the Playboy bunny, etc...

How about photos...do they have to be royalty free...do we have to have the rights to such work or can we just grab what we find on the internet.

Does any of this matter?

Thanks!

You can find all hte skin rules here:

Lately there have been copyright issues w/ people wanting more credit given. Just if you use an image you didn't take. Give credit in the comment section.

So far people have created skins using disney, bands, etc w/o crediting. But we are trying to fix that. So just give credit to the images you use. Say you got a picture of um Ariel (from the little mermaid) from google. In the comment section go ahead and type:
"Image credit: google.com" . Simple as that.

Whatever you grab, give credit. I know alot of the ones now don't give credit. But we're trying to get more redit given so yea.

You can find previous copyright issues here:

Oh and don't steal images. So basically just give credit.
