.gifs are the only image files, to my knowledge, that preserve transparency in all browsers. Try optimizing the files? :\ I'm sorry I can't be of more help. What graphics program are you using?

This should probably also be moved to graphics help.

Moved to Graphics Help

She's using photoshop

It may be the font you're using. There are different settings for a font, like crisp smooth whatever.

And yeah. Gifs are for transparency

I don't mean to be rude, really I dont, but if you dont know what's going on then please dont post. She's talking about her image, not the coding. Thank you, but yeah.

Edit:

I dont really know.

I tried 3 different fonts, the middle one being Action Jackson.

I would just have a colored background or pattern and put the text on it. =X Sorry Lydia.

I am not blaming you for anything. I never mentioned that I once was blaming you for anything.

You even said yourself that " Im pretty sure I dont know what you're trying to do " . Thanks for trying to help but, it helps to be sure what she needs help about.

Thats all Im saying. And try not to take everything so offensively. I was really sincerely trying to be nice about it.

Some things can be so stupid.

I've never had luck trying to save gif text. It always comes out so pixely and ugly.

i really wish it would just work.
i tried some other fonts, and they are the same way.
i was thinking about maybe doing them in paint or something
as a .bmp then changing the bg to transparent with giffy or whatever

Oh no. Not bmp's. Those are not for the web. It took 10 minutes to load one of those suckers once.

What exactly are you trying to make? I take it a layout site?

mhmmm.
and it's not a skin like i said, so yeah.
i basically just need a transparent image with text that's not blurry so i can image map it
and i don't see why it's being blurry and pixelly, i'll keep messing around

well the reason i didn't want to just do that is,
well i wanted to use it as the navi on every layout and not have to make a new one everytime i made a layout

The image mapping has nothing to do with the colors..just the image...

well what I mean is,
okay everytime i'd have to make a NEW image and have whatever the bg color was going to be as the layout and then have to image map
and if i had a transparent one i could just keep using it, and not have to make a new one.
sorry, it's hard to explain.

Did you try saving for web? That usually makes it look better.
File > Save for web . Change to gif . Then you can see what it iwll look like saved.

pinch.gif Just an idea.
