CB Idol Options

You know what? We should have our own version of American Idol.

How it's gonna work:

People who want to compete will submit recordings of them singing a song via a recording or a video. Six Five judges will choose the top ten contestants. The top ten six contestants wil go through a series of round in which the judges choose a genre/theme for the contestants to sing. (For example, during one round you might have to sing a gospel song.) Throughout the rounds, rather than voting, the judges will choose who they think should go on to the next round. The deadline for submissions of the entry round is August 12th, 2006. Although, this date is subject to change.

Rules:

• One submission per person, per round.
• Submissions should be at least 1 minute long.
• No major editing of the voice recording.
• No lip synching.
• In future rounds, you will not be able to use a recording you used in a past round.

I know there are a lot of talented singers out here. CB is a very large community and I've heard some of your singing voices before. C'mon guys don't be afraid to participate.


For those who saw this post when it was first made, I edited this post so that it hopefully looks cleaner and more organized. However, all the past rules and works apply. Hope you like it. -Arjuna

it's too late to be a judge, and yes you can sing an original song but once the 10 are chosen, they'll sing songs that have to fit under our given requirements

Okay, so we decided that:

You have the option of either making a recording, or posting a video of yourself singing it. Just as long as you're singing, it will be okay. Lip synching will not be okay.

Also, NO editing of the voice recordings!

I actually agree with Suzzette on this one. For the preliminaries at least. Maybe on the later rounds you can require a longer time.

For prelims does there have to be a time limit? As long as it's not like 10 seconds or anything...just long enough to hear us sing I guess.

I'm going to submit one from last summer..because I'm not going to have any time to redo one. Shut up. I know it's the Spice Girls, haha. My newer ones will sound better I promise.

But what do you mean by edited? I have 7 voices singing on this but all of them are mine. I just did it on Audacity. That's a program by the way.

well I suppose at this point it whether I want to be fair or not. Not to say I'm the greatest singer in the world, but I have 12 or 13 songs already recorded so I have a huge advantage. But it would be so fun. I'll sleep on it :)

psh we would LOVE to have you in the competition. It's not really unfair, in my opinion. Everyone gets a chance, ne?

Anyways back from camp (3-day thing) and uhh I just read the whole topic and Archie's edit of my post. Just to make things clear, songs would at least be 60 seconds but I guess for this preliminaries we can at least have it for 10 seconds.

Um I know we aren't supposed to edit the voice but I already had the recording and there just some reverd at the beginning. The rest is clean its just lost of voices all togehter. Justto clear that up :)

Guys for future rounds don't do harmonies, please. We expected the entries to be something like what it would sound in auditions.. just the person singing her heart out without ANYTIHNG in the background.

oh and I can't post results on Friday and do decision Thursday night ..some participants might want to have a bit more time >.<
