i think that before all living things existed, elements fused together creating the egg. thus in its hatching, which created the chicken, which in turn was bestowed with the divine power to produce the incredible, edible egg. ok. im just kidding.
to be honest i cannot answer that. ![]() |

Egg. Because the egg can come from like a dinosaur, and as time passes, the egg can like transform into a chicken.

The chicken. This is because God created all animals in thier present form. Meaning God created the chicken, and from it came an egg. If you do not believe in creation, then the gentleman kryogenix is most definately correct.

hey i'm not sure if this type of post belongs in debate but it has to do with the subject and it wasn't originally in the debate forum :P
http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/science/05/26/chicken.egg/ QUOTE Chicken and egg debate unscrambled
Egg came first, 'eggsperts' agree Friday, May 26, 2006; Posted: 7:33 a.m. EDT (11:33 GMT) The question has baffled scientists through the ages. LONDON, England -- It's a question that has baffled scientists, academics and pub bores through the ages: What came first, the chicken or the egg? Now a team made up of a geneticist, philosopher and chicken farmer claim to have found an answer. It was the egg. Put simply, the reason is down to the fact that genetic material does not change during an animal's life. Therefore the first bird that evolved into what we would call a chicken, probably in prehistoric times, must have first existed as an embryo inside an egg. Professor John Brookfield, a specialist in evolutionary genetics at the University of Nottingham, told the UK Press Association the pecking order was clear. The living organism inside the eggshell would have had the same DNA as the chicken it would develop into, he said. "Therefore, the first living thing which we could say unequivocally was a member of the species would be this first egg," he added. "So, I would conclude that the egg came first." The same conclusion was reached by his fellow "eggsperts" Professor David Papineau, of King's College London, and poultry farmer Charles Bourns. Mr Papineau, an expert in the philosophy of science, agreed that the first chicken came from an egg and that proves there were chicken eggs before chickens. He told PA people were mistaken if they argued that the mutant egg belonged to the "non-chicken" bird parents. "I would argue it is a chicken egg if it has a chicken in it," he said. "If a kangaroo laid an egg from which an ostrich hatched, that would surely be an ostrich egg, not a kangaroo egg." Bourns, chairman of trade body Great British Chicken, said he was also firmly in the pro-egg camp. He said: "Eggs were around long before the first chicken arrived. Of course, they may not have been chicken eggs as we see them today, but they were eggs." The debate, which may come as a relief to those with argumentative relatives, was organized by Disney to promote the release of the film "Chicken Little" on DVD. |

In order for the first chicken egg to have been a chicken egg as opposed to a different egg, it must have had a chicken within it. Otherwise, it would just been another dinosaur egg. Thus, it would have only been a chicken egg when the chicken was developing inside, and thus:
A: The chicken and the egg came at one simultaneous moment. Kryo, I think the question refers to chicken eggs. If not, then your answer is right. |

If the dinosaur laid the egg, wouldn't it have been destroyed when the meteor came and destroyed all the dinosaurs? o_O

Dinosaurs laid eggs way before there were chickens, so the egg came first. Please come back to us. ![]() And yes, the dinosaur's egg was destroyed, but it was essentially first, which is the point of his argument. However, that's not really what we're debating, which is whether the chicken's egg came before the actual chicken. I think his comment was meant more in humor. For the sake of the argument, I agree with the argument that the chicken came to be (through evolution or creation, whichever you want to believe) and bore the egg. |

The chicken v. egg debate was initiated by the government in order to divert our attention away from more important issues, such as humanitarian crises and the war in Iraq.

Ok I used to belive in god and stuff now I am not real sure what I belive in I am kinda in the middle of the god and the evolved thing....
That being said there really can not be one without the other so which came first.... Well in oreder to be a chicken you have to have an egg BUT look at it this way to we all came from an " EGG " soooo there had to be humans right in order to make more and get that egg lol so it has to be the Chicken... Wow did I confuse everyone like I did myself ![]() ![]() |

Chicken. End of story. God created all animals, in my opinion, BUT--if you don't believe in that, chickens evolved from lizards, so the chicken still came first. The question is not about ANY eggs, such as dinosaur eggs *cough*kryogenix*cough* It's about a CHICKEN egg coming before or after a CHICKEN.
Chicken first. The end. |

i think the egg. and then evolution slowly took place. you need the egg before the evolution, correct? if the chicken went through evolution..it's not it can teach itself to pop out a new egg.

If the debate was "Which came first, the chicken or it's egg?", then the answer would be the chicken. |

Going to say chicken.
The question implies that the egg is a chicken's egg. The dinosaur comment was clever, but irrelevant to the debate. We're talking about chickens and their eggs. That being said, I believe the chicken was created by God, but from an evolutionary standpoint (theoretical) I would say the egg came first. Macro-evolution is the evolution of an entire species slowly but surely. The chicken as we know it today has its own genetic code and DNA. This is why chickens continue to pop out an egg and create another chicken with the same genetic makeup. Logically, the life form that is a genetic mutation away from becoming a chicken can already produce an egg, and is just one step from being the complete chicken. At the point where it creates that egg, the egg possesses all the characteristics of a chicken.. That was a long winded, very circular theory. As are all evolutionary theories.... |
