If you guys didn't know, A Mighty Heart, based on the popular novel, is coming onto the big screens. :)
Plot: Mariane Pearl (Jolie) embarks on a frantic search to locate her journalist husband, Daniel, when he goes missing in Pakistan. Now, Mariane is Cuban/African. Basically, she's black or Cuban-African, not really sure. Well, there has been much quarrel about the casting. If you havn't heart, Angelina Jolie, a white female is playing a role as a Cuban-African. This is a true story about Mariane. Basically, it's like having Adrienne Brody play Ray instead of Jamie Foxx. What are your inputs? Do you think this is a right decision? Just wondering if you guys thought this might be okay. Me, a huge Angelina fan would always support her. Are there any other movies with race changes? |

Eh, well, it's not like this hasn't happened before. Yul Brenner played the King of Siam in The King and I. I think he also may have played another Asian (Chinese this time) in the movie adaptation of Pearl S. Buck's novel The Good Earth (long read, but very good). Laurence Olivier played Othello.
