The don't make you fat. They help you develop muscle and tone muscle easier. They speed up your metabolism as well.

Protein is just there so you can gain more weight faster. Or thats what someone told me. Like if you drink protein shakes and you work out you'll have more build. Most of the guys on my football team use them.

Protein shakes aren't very risky as long as you're using quality stuff and not using excessive amounts, which is believe to cause liver damage. But yeah. I'm going to start drinking protein shakes because I can never gain weight, I eat as much as I can an I work out 3 times a week and go running pretty much everyday. I'm also going to start eating protein bars for snacks. Google protein supplements and they'll give you better detail.

Things to avoid are like Creatine and steroids.

My cousins told me that Whey Protein is the best. I also read that it is. So yeah. Get whey. There is also like soy and something else. Whey is supposed to be the best for gaining weight in muscle mass.

Protein+exercise=muslce.gain.

don't they help build muscle? my grandpa broke his leg and the doctor told him to drink lots of protein shakes to help gain his strength back. but you can't rely on the protein shakes to tone you. you gotta work out too, but i'm sure you already knew that

Well you need fat to build muscle. Protein builds muscle. You need to get a lot of protein when you plan on exercising to build muscle. Protein provides the necessary amino acids to build and repair muscle. You're supposed to get at least 1g of protein per pound of body weight. If you're really wanting to gain muscle you should get twice as many grams as many pounds you way. So for example, if you weigh 140, you should get 280 grams of protein everyday. This isn't as easy as it sounds. Usually meaning you need to eat 6 meals a day. That is why most people drink protein shakes, to get the amount of protein they need. Usually protein shakes have about 20-60 grams of protein. A glass of milk supplies 8 grams of protein, the average serving for steak provides about 40 grams, and chicken is about 30. For more information about all foods just google "protein in food".

Too much protein without exercise causes you to gain fat, but protein plus exercise is what'll build muscle.

If you don't get protein though,t hinking it'll make you fat, you're only breaking down your muscles.

This is exactly what Zamunda needs. cry.gif In no time he will go up from 150 to 165.

Just a side note, what types of excercise would anyone suggest to gain muscle along side taking protien shakes. I also heard that too much Protien causes kidney stones, doesn't worry me though, because I drink plenty of water.

orange juice? Thats the only one that I would dink. The only one that I think is safe. Red bull is a good one. I like that stuff also. I know some people hate it because of the way it looks and the way it tastes. I love the stuff.

there is nothing wrong with taking creatine. Our body natuarally reproduce it in small amounts as well.

red bull is a energy drink, its not goin to help you gain muscles. i only drink it when i have a late watch. taste all right but the after effect is horrible. (for me) I crash hard. I could sleep for 14+hrs but still feel groggy and tired.
