I don't know if this is just me, but I don't like it when people say stuff like "Oh I feel so bad for him/her" or "Oh, I feel so sorry for that person" Like, if I was walking down the street with some people, and we see a homeless guy, they would probably say something such as "Aww, I feel bad for him/her" But then seconds later, they would forget the whole thing. I mean, if someone really did feel pity on someone else, shouldn't they try to do something about it? Like the situation of the homeless guy, If they really felt sorry for them, they would try to help out instead of just saying how they have pity on them. I know that I'm being really hypocrital right now, cause I know that I've said how I felt bad for someone.

To make this not sound like I'm just going around complaining, I guess what I'm asking is, Is this just me? Or do some of you feel the same way? ermm.gif

well, what are you going to do? take the homeless guy home with you!? laugh.gif

sometimes you have pity on others, and you really mean it, but you can't really do much about it.

i'll ask someone "what's wrong?" or if they're feeling ok because i really care and want to know. but i don't understand why someone would bother to ask if they don't care.

When I see people begging on the streets, I'm like "Aww . . ." then I give them some money. Even to those who sing in the metros.

It depends on how they look like, I mean some I would just ignore, some I actually give, I see if they're able to carry themselves or not.

That's what I do. pinch.gif I mean there's a point where you feel bad about something or someone when there's not much that you can honestly do for them, you know? ermm.gif

True, there's only so much you can do at one point. But even in the smallest amount, any bit helps. ermm.gif

I don't like it when people say they feel sorry for someone, or pretend to care, when it's so obvious that they're faking it. But if they seem sincere and mean it enough, then it's not that bothersome to me.

True that.

i was walking in albertson's with my friend and we saw a homeless person with a sign that said, "need food" so my friend bought a sandwich for the guy. when we came out, she gave it to him and he said, "thanks, want to buy my ring?" and his ring was in the middle finger. . i was like, this b!tch gots the nerve to give us the finger.. she just grabbed me and left. that a-hole. . _dry.gif

Actually, I do feel bad for them. I'll see a person begging on the streets and I'll think about him/her for days. I just feel way guilty for being in a hurry or not having enough money to spare, or (in most cases) being too scared to stop. Sometimes they even show up in my dreams.

If someone asks me to borrow money, I don't care if it's the last twenty in my purse, I let them borrow it. If they pay me back, that's great, but usually I just forget about it.

If you let a homeless person into your home, you know they won't leave.. why would they if there's nowhere else to go?! Sorry, offtopic lol.
You're right though, you can't do much, they could do more for themselves than you could. I heard this thing once.. "You create your own experience", I don't know, kind of true..

One time my mom gave poptarts and a drink to this guy and this woman ran out of the store and was like "NOO! DONT YOU GIVE THAT THEIF A THING!" Ha, turns out, the cops followed him one day and he lived in a nice house and everything. He just bummed off of people for a living.

But, yeah. I don't like fake concern.

I hate people who feel pity for others, unless it's in an understandable situation. When I see homeless people, I get sad and buy them food ( but not money, because my mom says that they might use it for drugs. Stertypical but I'm only looking out for their safety ) or I do give them money sometimes.

I hate it when you're going through an ordeal and other people know, for examply someone very close to you has died and other people say " I feel so sorry for her "

Feeling sorry and feeling pity and ( IMO at least ) looking down at me. I hate that. I try not to say " I'm sorry ... or I feel so sorry " or anything like that. Instead I tell them if you ever want to talk or If you ever need some help or something.

Yeah.

Honestly.
I was with my 2 cousins in Macy's at the MAC/makeup section, and an associate came up to my older cousin and asked her how her day was, and my cousin was all oh, it's going alright, but the girl just nodded and she seemed nonchalant to the point of not caring at all.
A little while later, I told my cousins that if another person came up to me and asked me the same question, I wouldn't give them a repetitive answer but a full descriptive one.

ex: "ohhh, yeah, my day was horrible. i had to sit through 2 hours of traffic on my way here and i also experienced massive nausea when i walked through your guys' perfume section, so ... yup. and how was yours?"

Yeah but I don't think she was speaking strictly of homeless people.

Hey, who are you to judge what they may do with the money? laugh.gif

Kidding mellow.gif.

Anyway. I dunno, but for some reason, the word "pity" is synonymous with just looking down on someone due to their unfortunate situation [to me], while having compassion and empathy/sympathy is different--despite the fact that they are all the same, according to my trusted source [ http://tfd.com].

When I say "I'm sorry," I mean "I am sorry that happened" and mean it.
So.. _unsure.gif. Okay, I forgot why I decided to post in here.
Uh. If I see a homeless person, I'll give them money or food if I have any. I don't care what they do with it. It's no longer mine.
