It seems like every once in a while CB has those annoying members who think the can create large amounts of spam threads. What do you think when you wake up to see all the threads you have been participating in, vanished and replaced with stupid crap just so someone could spam? What do you think of mass amounts of spam threads?

I'm aware that it may not bother most people, but since it happens often I wanted to know what everyone thinks.

I was there during last night's "spamfest."

I did indeed post in those threads, however, every single one of my posts were full, legit posts.

It really doesn't bother me too much. The previous topics are usually just on the second page.

Obviously, it does bothers me since I know that spamming is against the rules. Most of the time I'll ignore the spam threads or try to put it to a stop, although there's only so much I can do. Then there are times when it's just..well, not really "fun" I guess (at least for me), but just there to post in and kind of partake in. ermm.gif

But it does get annoying in excessive amounts.

True, cB has kind of been going downhill in fun, I guess you could say. But I'm sure there are better ways to bring back some life to this forum, rather than going against the guidelines.

..we just need to figure some of those ways out. ermm.gif

Maybe if cB was more interesting, and if the people weren't so uppity. Us "spammers" probably wouldn't feel the need to spam.

Okay, so how would you propose to make cB more "interesting"? Any suggestions?

If members who tend to spam as of lately, spam because cB has lost its excitement, then why not do something to help bring it back? It's..kind of like complaining then expecting everyone else to make the changes for you. (I'm not saying anyone is complaining, I'm just trying to use an example.)

We've tried the interesting topics. No one cares about them anymore (i.e. Linda's threads, the news threads, etc.). When people make topics, NO ONE ACTUALLY CONVERSES. They post and leave. There's no fixing how people respond. It's nothing about the forums at all. Everything is fine. It's the people. I feel like a broken record. pinch.gif

As I have said multiple times in the past, more interesting topics would help.

And maybe some cB drama... But that's not necessary, now is it?

To bad I am never on to enjoy it. -_- I'm not suporting it just like Jesus said i'm just saying that you should lighten up just a little and have fun.. let loose and become free.

Well drama does keep things interesting. But in the past, it's resulted in members leaving and people siding with each other and whatnot. So, I dunno.

True, spam is entertaining for a while. Although like I said in one of my previous posts, it gets annoying in excessive amounts (though this might not apply to you). I just think there are better ways to make cB interesting.

Plus, who's to say that once createBlog is more interesting and full of life amongst its members, that the spammers will stop spamming?

No, i'm serious. Everyone finds something different interesting to them.

Like Micahel's long threads. Those were interesting, to me.

The Anime section is interesting to some.

The Harry Potter threads are interesting to others.

The sandbox..well..thats just a giant festivity.

And so on...

it kind of bothers me, since you're not supposed to spam, and also since it adds too much crap and bumps back the interesting topics. but, well, there's nothing much to do since most mods aren't on at 3 in the morning, i would guess. because after the wave of spam topics end, people post in the interesting topics again. and sometimes the spam topics are pushed back and not able to be closed. so no mods seem to know about it.

The only reason spam is fun is because you're not supposed to do it...just like a group of teenagers trespassing on an abandoned factory lot (like I did last night). It gives you a thrill.

CB keeps me from being bored all the time. If people would just appreciate the threads that actually require you to think and discuss, it would be fine. Also, I don't think people search around more than certain forums to find something interesting. Why do you think the Lounge has the most topics? People go here because you can post about anything, but the topics that actually play on peoples' hobbies and interests are elsewhere.

well, the purpose of the warn level is to buoild up to a hrasher punishment, it is a standard feature on most boards.

however, i believe CB's policy is to consider cases indvidually, rather than to jus tstick to the numbers.

if you commit a minor offense, you may only get an increased warning eleve, which allows people to keep track of how many times you hvae been warned, or alternatively, you may be straight out suspended.

oop. i mean, if you have to get a verbal warning before you get an actual warning. if you keep violating the rules, you'll be kicked out.

Lets say you commit 9 minor offenses over a long period of time. Would that mean your warning would be increased 9 times, thus not really getting a punishment(as in something that would limit your posting)?

^ Dude you're stupid, Most peoples warning dont even go above 10%
They catch like 5% Of the stuff you do and warn you..usually you have to get snitched on.
I got my warning level just decreased like 2 days ago, by head staff i think! :D
When you're at 100% You get suspended..but as far as I know anything up to there has no effect..

OFF TO IKEAAAAA HIT EM UP HIT EM UP

No penis head. I was asking if someone got warned and decreased 9 times each, wouldn't that be the same as no punishment at all?

Perhaps you should ask the experts.

A.k.a. the mods.

^LOL

I used to stay online until 3-4am on a regular basis. I'm getting old, I guess, I'm going to bed a bit earlier now. Or, well, not really. I'm just retiring from the computer earlier. But yeah, I totally missed this. Here's the thing, you guys. Next time you decide to do a spamfest, MAKE SURE I DON'T MISS IT. >=|

I swear, I've missed every single one since I've being moderating the community forums.

Jackie, don't get any ideas. I'm not by any means giving you permission to spam. :P

once we're old and wrinkly and asking each other how we spent our teenage years,

"i spammed a createblog" as opposed to "drugs, sex, rock 'n' roll, and createblog" sounds a bit... mundane.

honestly, i don't know what i'm saying... but why break rules on an online community?
