When you're reading a thread, you get to the last post on the page, and you notice the people reading the topic. There are a couple ways one could easily (or at least maybe just me) get creeped out. The first being you see a username of someone who never posts.. and minutes after you've left the thread, they still haven't posted in it. Then again, in this scenario, perhaps that particular member's just a reader. At least he/she signed up and created an account, no? The second scenario is when you notice that a guest (or sometimes more than one) is reading the topic. I mean, yeah, I like to read threads and never really reply.. but to see a guest? I mean.. why the eff would you read threads without ever wanting to contribute to them? To interact? To be a part of it? Why just be an audience member? In some ways, it really is like watching television. createBlog's community, its members, its posts.. are all someone's entertainment.
 Sorry.. just had to get that out.

it is kind of creepy. i always wonder who "anonymous member" and "guest" are in a topic that i'm reading. i sometimes think they're secret agent types gathering up information to condemn us with one day.
now, i feel guilty about reading topics and not replying to them. usually it's because i don't know how to respond or think my opinion is miniscule compared to others already posted. |

I don't get the anonymous members, but the guests could be a new visitor or someone who hasn't logged in yet. I remember I read around cB to see if it was worthwhile before I joined.
