It's been raining in my corner of Texas for almost a full week. I stayed up until seven this morning. It thundered all night last night. Our forth of July was a magical-- no, whimsical one. Our neighbors, who are usually very uneventful or patriotic, sent of fireworks in almost every shape and colour last night. The whistles and pops mixed with occasional thunder left me feeling inspired.

This morning I took the dog for a walk. The rain was still trickling from my roof and splattering against our pavement. The grass soaked my jeans. We have miniature frogs hopping everywhere this year; I refuse to have our lawn mowed for their sake. We have a lemon tree in our front yard. I've only seen it bloom and produce lemons once, which was two years ago; it's been nearly dormant since. Today it flourished. The colours outside seemed vibrant and alive decorated with rain drops. Even the rocks beneath the tree were ivory and clean.

When it rains in Texas is one of the most inspiring things for me. What most inspires you? It can be an event, a person, a place, a memory, the weather, or a book.

Beautiful post.

Your post is inspiring.

My friends inspire me. Music inspires me. Watching a beautiful sunset.
It's been raining a lot here as well, might sound weird, but when I'm out jogging, the rain inspires me to run that extra mile.

There are so many things that inspires me. Going to see a theater production inspires me a lot. Going to a voice recital or dance recital is also inspiring. I heard this guy play the entire "Rhapsody In Blue" on the piano, and omg, that was def inspiring. It made me want to start taking lessons again.

I find inspiration in so many different ways and places, it's incredibly hard to just pick one aspect of how inspiration comes.

Music.

The beats, and the backdrops and mos def the lyrics. And im talking about the REAL music, with REAL meaning. Not that 50 cent shit, or D4L nonsense. But some Atmosphere and Eyedea and Fort Minor, Scary Kids Scaring Kids and Fall out Boy. If you look into lyrics for some of these artists/bands songs, they are really deep.

^ whoa, you live near Wake forest??!?! (a little off topic, sorry)

I get inspiration from a lot of things.
Storms, fog, movies, music, Libi, carrie, michelle, monet, Chels (my best friend), brit (my sister), My family (sister, brother, mom, dad)...

Yes, inspiration is everywhere, you just have to watch something/hear something at the right moment, and it will spark. _smile.gif

Long drives I would actually say, everyone said music it seems or girlfriends/boyfriends. I think being with someone that loves you for you and going on a long drive anywhere inspires me. I mean of course your boyfriend/girlfriend are going to inspire you, they love you for you and want you to be yourself and wish you the most luck in everything. When you go on long drives with someone you love and theres no cities or buildings just land. And you look outside of the car at the passing trees and you may have the windows down and feel the wind your hair and you may even have that music on that you really don't hear but its still there in the background and you feel yourself and happy. You have this complete moment with someone you love and its calm and the nature around you.

listening to soft music with the voice inspired me to think out of the box, discover, and explore the thoughts beyond my mind of philosophy.

staring at the clouds is very inspiring because of it's beautiful randomness.

Man it's been raining here a ton too! Like all week!

Other people inspire me. Like, when I see a quality in someone else that I admire, I will try as hard as I can to build up on that quality.

I agree with Katie, I draw inspiration for many things. It can come from music, walking on the beach at night, long drives to no where, my friends, my family, even those people who you met once in a lifetime that leave you an encouraging word or compliment. I also like to see the beauty in the smallest of things, take time to admire it, and then draw inspiration.

In a way, everything can inspire you, it's cheesy but I think I feel that it depends on what you see at the moment for inspiration to come.

On another note, I wish it'd rain in Taiwan, it hasn't rained in weeks and it's getting too hot.

I agree. Also, when reading I usually find these little passages that open up so many ideas and feelings. Jack Kerouac/My Grandma/Johnny Depp, honestly. Music, of course. People in general. Fashion.

OH! & my dreams most definitely.

being near the ocean. i don't know why, but i love the beach. whenever i need inspiration, i just think of the beach. also watching little little kids discover the world. lol it sounds weird, but when my sister was little and just learning to walk, it was inspiring to me. i loved just watching her walk and adventure around the house, everything seemed so new and different to her. she reminds me to look at things from different angles sometimes.

like everyone else, music, but not the stupid meaningless songs. real music.
