I read it in ninth grade. I liked it. Not my favorite books ever, but I always enjoy character books (or as I call them that), where the book doesn't really focus on events, but focuses on character reactions to a problem. Obviously the one in this was nuclear warfare (always fun for everyone). Keep reading, it gets better. I remember it being slow at first.

Omfg.
Never again. I'm almost done with it, and it is, quite possibly, the most boring book I've ever had the displeasure of reading. edit: Actually, this goes on my list of "Worst Books Ever" along with The Call of the Wild. |
