i searched and couldn't find if there was a previous topic on this subject. if this is double, mods, please close. _smile.gif

i was wondering what some members experienced in the kitchen. what was your worst moment during cooking? what was your proudest achievement?

my proudest achievement: it was my friends birthday so i decided to bake her a cheesecake. it was my first try and it came out great. hehe. i would definitely want to try again. it's a classic cheesecake with a graham cracker crust and a strawberry sauce topping.

before:

after:

my worst moment: i left the manual for my toaster oven in said oven and turned it on, forgetting that there was paper in there. needless to say, poof! a small fire occured. nothing big happened... except i felt like a complete moron. sweating.gif

My best was a pastry cake thing I made for a french desert competition. It was cream puffs surrounded a custard. Everything was hand made and it took over 8 hours.

My worst was that time i burnt cambells soup.

My worst: I was warming water in a wok to help the foods sticking release ( Like soaking it so its easier to scrub ) and I got on the computer planning to check on it in 5 minutes. I completely forgot and about 2 hours later i smelled smoke and somehow the water burned and the pan was all nasty and some of the inside was missing. I dont know Lol.

My best: Full course meals ( I.e. pastas with sauces, pasta with meat and sauces, chickeeens, meats, beefs, porks. Pretty much anything, Im a reaaally good cook, and im bragging just because that's how good i am :D )

Altho my favorite things to make are
Fried Chicken with Mashed potatos, gravy and biscuits. Sometimes macaroni and cheese and vegetables.
Pork cutlets baked inside biscuits
Pasta with a creamy cheese sauce and garlic chicken with bread
Fried Rice
Rice Lol
Brownies
Cakes. I actually make cakes that look like the ones you can buy in the store, except my writing looks like chicken scratch Lol.

Uhmm .. Yes :D

fresh noodles together ahh yummy with garlic bread ect.
everyone says i make awesome lasagna.

chicken mashed potatoes gravy.
my gravy, when i cook things like chicken or beef,
always gets lumpy and its always burnt it tastes awful.
thats pretty much whats wrong with my dishes, gravy.

Maybe the time my seventh grade teacher told me and my friend to check on the soup in the staffroom (we were good students and it wasn't too big of a deal to miss some class). We totally burnt the bottom and scraped the burnt bits up into the soup, lol. We also added stuff like coffee whitener to it. Yum.

Recent catastrophes include a chocolate cake that we made, which was okay looking at first, but we screwed the top up majorly (long story). So we put icing on it.

Before:

I realize it doesn't look as bad as I say it does, but the icing was oozing out white liquid, and it was...gross.

So we took out cookie cutters, white chocolate chips and heart shaped sprinkles.

After:

Haha. Chocolate cake pimp and the ladies. =p
