Okay so I'm going to try and make a more sophisticated kind of layout and I want it to look something like this:

Do any of you think thats to hard? If no, where would I begin?

It might be hard if you have no design experience whatsoever.

You get your program. You make a blend. Add two content areas. Blend the blend into the blog area. Then you just in your css make the background repeat all the way down. And make the heading background and yea.

Then you have it.

What kind of layout would look nice but is easy enough for a person with not a lot of design experience?

There is no asnwer to that. You have to create the good layout. Whatever you can make you can make it decent and good. There is no answer on how easy it will be etc. To make a good layout it pretty much takes practice.

So I say you do a bunch of tutorials on different things like blending, colorizations, collages, etc. Then find a way to create one into a layout.

A layout is your creation. So yea.

B/c I can't do the blending/collaging thing I just used one picture. How does it look:

It looks good. See its a good start. Once you keep doing different things like that you'll come up withmore ideas and styles that will become more complex.
