Advice for Acting by Jane _smile.gif
1. (The most important rule everrr) Always have fun no matter what. You don't have to struggle just to be big.

2. Learn to be professional and learn to take rejection.

Me, I'm a cancer >_> I'm pretty sensitive but these kinda things we all have to learn to do. When someone critizes your acting or what you do, don't take it as something to look down upon. Listen to what they have to say--they could be right and it could be something you can work on.

3. Stage fright: This is completely normal. Sometimes I get stage fright as well.

Well...have you ever watched Hannah Montana? Ever seen the episode where she's warming up? And she goes Ang Ang Ang Ang like a dog? xD Well always try to lossen up and relax before performing. It calms the nerves and let's you focus.

4. Breathe.

Probably the most important rule. If you ever feel like you're forgetting a line, take a deep breath. If you can't remember your line just continue to act the emotion.

5. Practice.

There are many actors/actresses out there. Many your friends and you can have a little fun and act out a movie. You guys will be practicing and sharpening your skills when you don't even know it!

6. Be a social butterfly.

Actors have very outgoing personalities, so why not you? Try talking to people more, start conversations (even with your friends!) don't be afraid to smile. This will definately boost your confidence and break through the shy barrier.

You should never give up. If you get rejected, try again! (= Trust me. That's just 1 of the 70 auditions that you will get turned down. The other 69 are up to you.

Advice for the photographers Submitted by Arjuna Capulong
To photographers out there:
If you're planning to be a photographer as your future career, you'd have an advantage if you start some kind of small business early, like now, or whenever you think you're ready (as soon as possible, however).
You can then start building your reputation as a photographer, while getting the gist of running a business. It's a pretty good experience, overall.

ALSO! Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about barbizon or anything of the above.

There's still more to come...

a real agency never asks you money before you start work. some are frauds while others just arent a great agency. they wont ask you to pay until youve already gotten paid and started to work under their name.

Nah. I have an account at explore talent. It's actually pretty good, a bit costy but if you can get your parents to pay cough up a few bucks for a few months then it's all worth it. It gives you the best open calls. _smile.gif

You should add www.monster.com. It helps you get your resume[which you can upload or monster will help you build one] noticed by employers. I posted mine like a week and a half to two weeks ago and I got 2 calls for interviews in the past 3 days which I think was pretty fast, although they weren't the kinda places I'd wanna work at.

As for a career, I'd like to get into Photography and MAYBE filmmaking. I'm gonna try to get into computer graphics too.

It's just a hard job to do successfully. You need a lot of skill and patience and of course a lot of well paying clients. No it's usually not a well paying job from the beginning. You have to want to do it.

True, but I'm not in it to make a lot of money. I'm doing it cuz it's what I love, I get a certain peace from it. Plus if I wanted to make big bucks I could just do wedding photography. And as for movie making experience, all I can think of is using my gameboy camera when I was younger to make clipshows with my legos haha. I guess that doesn't count, but it was fun and took a while.

I can't picture myself surving through Medical School or anything.

Since I'm going into a computer school and i'm in like a webdesigning/graphic arts program, then i guess that could be a possibilty for me. But then, last night, when i was reading a book, they were talking about psychiatrist/psychologist [sp?] and it got me pretty interested. So i'm not sure yet.

i've also been considering a job in music because i can play the acoustic guitar, the bass (a little), the guitar, and a few recorders too.

My goal is to become a surgeon. If I get married and have someone to support me I might try and go for a neurosurgeon, but then again I might want to do cardiovascular surgery. Oh! And then I was watching this one medical show and I was thinking about a trauma surgeon. That would be sweet.

shampoo192, that's awesome that you want to be a veterinarian. I was recently talking to someone about that, and they told me that people who want this career often say they do it because they love animals. But some of them don't understand that you will be working with people as well. So if you want to be a vet, you have to like animals and people. But you probably already knew that!

It's funny, I can deal with other people and their blood, but if my blood is involved I can't stand it. It goes the same for needles. I was learning about acupuncture once and we got to stick the needle in our hand, and I almost fainted. But I could easily stick in someone else. Hah! I guess that's a good thing.

Surgery always freaked me out, and that's why I want to do it. There's this quote by Chuck Palahniuk that says "Find out what you're most of afraid of and go live there". So I decided to do it because I know it's always been one of my fears. But it's not like I'm afraid to do surgery on people - what really scares me is getting surgery done to me. So I think I'm all set either way!

Good luck on finding a vet school happy.gif.

The medical field is huge. There's so many ideas out there. I'm lucky to live in the area I do because we have career camps; I recently went to a Health Careers Camp. If you don't want to go through all the schooling, you could be a Respiratory Therapist, a Physician's Assistant, a Phlebotomist...the choices are endless. I'd say when school starts just go talk to your guidance counselor about options in the medical field. Other than that I'd recommend a type of surgeon or a different type of doctor other than pediatrician.

If I were to be a doctor, I'd be something in radiology. Or curing cancer with nanotechnology, but I forgot what that's called. Nanotech is really interesting, actually. This summer, I was considering a career in nanotech 'cause I was studying it for a while.
