Okay, well there's a quite similar topic to this, but if we're going to focuse on teens, it's quite different. _smile.gif

No, I don't think teens should be able to have abortions. If they honestly feel they are mature enough for sex, they should be mature enough to handle a baby. Besides, it's downright manslaughter if you think about it. Ninety-nine percent of abortions are from teenagers in the first place. stubborn.gif

stubborn.gif i think teens should be allowed to get abortions, because they can't take care of a baby. you can say that "if they are responsible enough to have sex, they are responsible enough to have a baby," but sometimes kids make mistakes, and they shouldn't have to have an unwanted baby and live a horrible rest of their life just because they made one bad decision. it IS true, until the baby is born, it is a part of the mother. the mother has a say on what happens to her body. if the mother is on heroin, the baby is a heroin addict. the baby gets whatever the mother eats. it's not it's own person until after it's born. unless any of you can tell me about your experiences in your mother's womb...?

The process of life is also a part of life. And if a teen made a bad decision, if they don't take responsibility for it and abort their child, the consequences for the actions have been eliminated. Each and every decision has an effect and even if it were a bad decision, you still learn and experience through it. And of course, there is the obvious possibility of giving the child out for adoption if this teen does not have the needed will to become 24/7 mother. Also, the child may be part of the mother's body during the 9 months before birth, but you must not only give respect to your own body, but also to your child. And another thought, why is having a child so bad? A child is a gift from God. Meant to be a great joy in your life. Yes, pain and sorrow comes with the child (like every human being) but in my opinion, it's all worth it to receive Butterfly Kisses from a little boy/girl. (name "Butterfly Kisses" from a song).

i believe they should... would you rather a child living on welfare and knowing there's not much hope for a future, or ending it before it starts?

well that is a sweet entry there (really). But there's the difference between having a child to have a child, and having a child for consequential reasons. the only state that doesnt require parental consent is california. but it still costs money to abort a child. those are consequences. also, family, etc.- those are consequences. but i feel it's wrong for anyone to FORCE a teen to have a baby they dont want, and go through the excruciating pain and labor when they don't want to. if it's illegal for teens, it would be forcing that pain on them. no one is allowed to force things like that, regardless of whether the teen deserved it or not.

that would be so simple, but see, no one has to go through the pain of having a child if they don't want to, especially if they were raped. also, foster homes are notorisouly bad environments for children. it doesn't matter what their decision is, it's their body, their child, their choice. and no, don't call it murder because it isn't- you can't murder something that isn't alive yet. and don't say it is alive because it's heart beats, because you know very well that if you took the baby out of the womb at the stage it was in and expected it to live, it definetly wouldn't. it wouldn't even be able to breathe in oxygen.

I feel it is something that should be different in each situation...if a teen feels the need to have unprotected sex in the first place...well then they can have the child...but then there is another side...what if a teenage girl is raped...and becomes pregnant....a very close friend of mine was raped by her ex boyfriend after the broke up and she became pregnant....she was only 13...her ex bf was 15....No she had an abortion because she wouldnt have been able to survive the pregnancy....so are u sayin that she should have to rot in hell because she had an abortion to protect herself...i dont think so....i feel that if ne girl is raped then she becomes pregnant then she should be able to abort the pregnancy.....without an heat from people...but for theothers how just had unprotected sex...have the child...put the child out for adoption if you want.... or keep the child...but have it none the less

Yes, i think they should... Teens aren't nessecarily mature enough to have a kid if they are, or at least think they are mature enough to have sex. And the majority of those who have abortions are not teenagers... The majority of women who have abortions are in their early 20s.

Anywho. The way it's set up in California is a bit, um, dumb? Well, if you're under the age of 18, and seeking an abortion, then you can get one with the consent of your parents, meaning, all you have to do is notify them, and then you can get an abortion. You DON'T even need your parent's permission. So yeah, i think that's kinda dumb because some girls don't ever let their parents know they had one.

But I think that abortion should be an option availible for anyone.
