Hiding from the world
In my own private sanctuary,
I'm sitting in a quiet garden
It's my private place.
The dark sky looming overhead
Is lessened by the
Glow of the full moon.
It twinkles brightly
And it seems like
It’s trying to lift my spirits.
Its not helping
A veil of sadness hangs around me
My eyes have lost their
Usual luster.
My voice has lost its
Usual happiness.
I’m not feeling as lucky as
My name really means.
And I’m not feeling as beautiful as the moon.
I sigh in sadness
And kick my feet against the ground
My heart is in another place
It soars just above the bright blue sea
Then dives straight into it.

The simplicity of this work is quite effective. The steely shroud of darkness that envelops the thoughts of this person is quite haunting. I equate the ending to a free-fall from purgatory to the depths of hell.
