youre probably sickk..? and you said youd drink 'something"; water is the best thing to drink when youre thirsty. if you drink soda or something of the sort it just makes you thirstier
if you drink water and youre still thirsty i guess its ok..water is good for you anyways! |

i've heard that when you're thirsty, you're not necessarily dehydrated. try to drink drinks with electrolytes and stuff like that [like Gatorade and Vitamin Water.]
just drink when you're thirsty. there's no harm in it. [just that you'd have to go to the bathroom more often.] summer's coming up, so i think it's ok. if you think it's really not normal, you should go see a doctor. |

Reading your story about being thirsty very often immediately pops an idea into my head, although it's probably not the reason why you're always thirsty.
Diabetes. A few symptoms of having diabetes is extreme thirst, frequent urination, rapid lost/gain in weight, frequent weakness and lack of energy, etc. I know 'cause that's how I found out I had diabetes (type 1). But since the only thing you mentioned is how thirsty you've been lately, then I doubt it's anything pre-diabetic. But maybe you should consult your doctor about it if it's really bothering you. |

I take medicine for a certian issue I have, (epilepsy) and it causes dry mouth... Which annoys me. Do you take any form of medication?
Or it could just be you're getting a cold... Or the fact that summers near... a lot of people drink a lot near summer ^^; |

^Actually, diabetes is not limited for age. It could either be genetic or your lifestyle. If your lifestyle is healthy and you don't have a family history of diabetes, you will not likely to be diabetic.
I agree that constant thirst is a diabetic symptom, see a doctor if you are really concerned about it. Drink water, eat less dry food. Eat food that contains moisture, also. |

if you have (or are developing) any allergies, those can make you extremely thirsty as well.

she is waaaaay to young to get diabetes yet. wrong. my friend (she's 12) has diabetes. she's had it for either her whole life or from when she was 3 or 4. anyway, i doubt it's diabetes. might be the allergies. just always have a bottle of water with you, or gatorade, or something like that. don't drink soda or anything fizzy/sugary, it'll just make it worse. gatorade, powerade, propel, juice, water. |

Maybe you're developing a sore throat? That happens to me sometimes, and the next day my throat would be all itchy, dry, and it would hurt whenever I'd swallow. Typical symptoms of a sore throat if you ask me.

she is waaaaay to young to get diabetes yet. Like others have mentioned, age is not a factor to diabetes. Maybe to the type of diabetes in some cases, but not in general. I was diagnosed at age ten with diabetes type one, but the weirdest thing is that there is no family history of diabetes in my family, whatsoever. ![]() |

The cause is complex and unclear, but may involve genetics, viruses, diet, chemicals and environmental factors. Type 1 diabetes was once called juvenile diabetes because it is usually diagnosed in childhood or early adulthood. People with type 1 diabetes must supply insulin by injection, pump or other methods. ^Directly from wikipedia. |

Okay. Here are a few tips.
1. Drink water. NOT SODA. 2. Drink your 8 glasses a day if possible. 3. Carry a water bottle around with you at all times. 4. If problem persists see a doctor! |

There was a period of time towards the end of the school year where I was ALWAYS thirsty. But the thing was, I had started carrying around a bottle of water to hydrate myself more, and that's when I started getting really thirsty. It was so annoying because I had to go to the bathroom so much. But now that I've stopped drinking so much water, I'm back to normal... Weirdness.

Unfortunately, water isn't enough sometimes. Often (and I don't know how the weather and heat is where you live) it has been extremely hot and dry lately. I know my son hasn't been able to retain water and I've been having similar issues as well. This is a good article regarding Dehydration & Electrolytes. Try drinking Gatorade or Powerade as well as your normal intake of water. I got some special thirst quenching substance... You want some? Don't spam. Just don't. |
