No you don't shove it up in your butt. Smh @ the ignorance of that statement.
You don't put it in your butt, you put it where you bleed out of and it doesn't hurt.
Maybe sometimes when you take it out.
If it does it's cause the tampon is too big and you need a lighter absorbancy.
Personally I think they're more comfortable than pads.

^x2 lmfao..boys...

you stick it in your VAGINA hole, not your butt. and i guess it's scary for girls that have never done it, and they're too nervous that something bad will happen or it will hurt to even try.

By the way, when you're nervous you clench, clenching makes muscles tighter, which might make it hurt more.

Uhm. Not to be rude, but you can also get infections from pads. Sure not TSS, but there are still infections, as long as you don't exceed the 8 hours and keep yourself clean, it shouldn't be an issue.

Every girl? Lol, I thought I was the only one who was afraid to wear them.

Anywho, they're afraid because it will probably hurt the first time or feel uncomfortable, like having sex for the first time. Your vagina isn't stretched out enough for that sort of activity, I'm guessing.

Lol but it isn't fingering with a cardboard tube, because you don't get any pleasure out of it and the cardboard tube doesn't stay up there.

You don't finger your uterus. You finger other sh*t. And the tampon goes in your uterus, not your clitoris. Smh.

yeah. uhm. you can get infections from pads more easily, i think.

and you can get TSS from tampons but not everyone is prone to TSS.

it depends on the person.

and personally i like tampons. you can't even feel them. with pads, i just feel dirty and like i'm wearing a diaper.

That's a pretty good question. I don't know why I'm afraid. Maybe it has something to do with reading about TSS when I was younger? Anyways, to me wearing a pad is pretty comfertable, so it's all good.

I like tampons better. It doesn't make feel like I'm wearing a diaper.
I was scared of TSS and it hurting but you get used to it after a couple of times.
And it won't get stuck. There's a certain point where the tampon can go far. And it can only go in for a couple of inches.
I would recommend it. Just make sure not to wear it too long, that's what causes TSS.

tss is extrememly rare and it doesnt happen as long as you choose the right absorbency.

personally, i dont understand the reason for why girls are so scared. you get used to it. you get used to inserting and taking out tampons and it doesnt seem so..odd. id rather have tampons as my best friends than wearing pads that feel like a diaper.

no, tampons cant get stuck. the next opening closest to the tampon would be the cervix. that hole is so tiny. its the size of like..a millimeter.

Actually, I was never afraid to use them. You don't have to get cardboard ones, they come in smooth, thin lined plastic too. Sometimes I think girls make it more painful on themselves because of their nerves. And they don't relax. If you're too nervous to use one then simply don't use it.
I personally love them, I hate feeling dirty. And pads make me feel dirty. Ick.
I like tampons because they're clean and great for when you work out.

As far as TSS goes they say not to wear them for over 8 hours, which is plenty of warning. I've left them in for longer than that (b/c there wasn't a bathroom where I was) and I was fine. Although Im pretty sure you didn't need to know that.

TSS is rare. Just don't wear it for more than 6-8 hrs. And even if you go past that, it's still not incredibly likely. And a tampon can't break your hymen. It's too small and doesn't really go in far enough.

To take it out, there's a string that hangs down and you pull. simple enough, yeah?

IDK... i was never scared of tampons. cardboard ones are slightly uncomfortable to insert, but the plastic ones are really easy. I guess it might hurt if it's your first time and you put it in at a weird angle and poke yourself. I did that, but it wasn't really a big deal.

TSS sounds scary, but as long as you do not keep it in for more than 8 hours, your chances of getting it are slim to none.

I use both. When I'm home, I mainly use pads, but when I'm going out, I don't feel comfortable with it alone. I don't really like pads, so I use the thinner kind where it absorbs a lot, but it won't feel like Huggies.

And you can get infections from pads, and even more if you don't change it often.

TSS is the main reason I'm afraid to use a tampon. Many of you have said that it's very rare, but still!! I'm afraid haha.

I'm fine with pads, yess sometimes it can be uncomfortable. I've been lucky so far not to get my period when I have swim practice. I get it when there is no practice. I've attempted to insert one, but I failed. I don't know how to put it in.

Don't tampons get messy tho? Like let's say you're in a public restroom and you're changing a tampon, wat do you do with it? Do you wrap it in like toilet tissue? then throw it away. I know some are flushable, but I'm talking about the ones that aren't. I mean for pads you cud just like fold em in half wrap it in toilet tissue then throw it away.

Ooookay, I'm getting grossed out now.

i think the idea of shoving anything into the vagina for the first time can be a little intimidating. but for active girls/swimmers, it's definitely worthwhile to try tampons the next time you get your period. as people have stated, tampons are 2349032483290x more comfortable than sitting on a soaking pad all day. yep. =) that's why i'm not afraid to use them anymore, they're so convenient.

If anything, pads are messier. With tampons, the part that goes into the vagina is, and always will be flushable. The plastic applicators aren't flushable but the cardboard ones are. I don't flush the cardboard applicators either.

Most people don't flush tampons. In almost every women's restroom you go into, there will be a box for tampon/pad disposal. It's really not messy at all. Wrap it in toilet paper, then just toss it in there. Or in the trash if there's no box. I personally think pads are messier.

Hm. I don't get why it's so gross. It's natural. Every female goes through this..

i try to convince my friends to use tampons but they're like "omg its gonna get stuck and im going to get an infection" or blah blah and "its going to hurt" its like omg it doesnt feel like anything. it takes like 1 day to get used to it at the most!!

if youre very active like in sports and what not, i recommend it. or if pads are just really uncomfy like i KNOW they are, give tampons a try!!

Right....

I really don't think this happens often, though.

If it does, then you stick your fingers into your vagina and pull it out. There's no chance whatsoever of it getting "lost"

Yeah but TSS can be really serious. Also, tampons are uncomfortable for me. It feels really really disgusting when you have to put it in and pull it out. pinch.gif

Well, if you're putting them in right they won't hurt.
I don't wear pads, ew, just panty liners... 'cause you know. Can't always trust the tampon.
O kaaay. So. Moving on. lol.
You also can't expect to know how to perfectly use one the first time. It took a me a little while to get it.
If you're first going to use them I highly recommend tampax pearl (because of the smooth applicater) and use the thinner ones! Too many people I know have tried to use the regular tampons or even the super ones the first time!

LOL, yes I know. You mention something about virginity though. And of course I had to say something.

I remember in middle school our health teacher got questions about if you use a tampon are you still a virgin. I wonder what kid's are being taught these days.

it's not really scary, but you do have to be careful when using them because of that toxic shock syndrome thing.. which is pretty scary. but as long as you interchange between tampons and pads, and don't keep the tampon in too long, esp the heavy ones, it should be fine.

I think the question you're asking is obvious. Why would one be afraid of using tampons for the very first time? Well, it's not exactly normal to stick things in places where nothing has ever been before.

masturbation?

lmao, that's funny. putting a tampon in feels nothing like masturbation or sex or anything remotely connected to sex.

it's almost like saying "i'm not gonna brush my teeth because i've never been kissed. Nothing's gonna go into my mouth that's plastic and has bristles."

It's not that I'm afraid to use them, I just don't want to.

You gotta stick it in your vagina, of course some females are going to be afraid of that. Some females prefer pads because it's more comfortable for them, like how you prefer tampons.

Because we've been told that it hurts.

I was always afraid of using one, because someone I knew passed out from the pain or whatever, so i was scared.

But then I got over it, and was like, "Yah, this is stupid."
So just started using them, and it didn't really hurt.

If a tampon is inserted correctly, you don't feel it. If you don't put it in deep enough, it hurts like a SOB. TSS is extremely rare and some simple steps can help you avoid it.

I use both tampons and pads, it's just easier and more hygienic. You don't worry about accidents like with pads alone.

If it hurts with a regular-sized one, try a different position to insert or try a lower-absorbency tampon, some of them are so small, they're less the size of a girl's pinky finger.

I know of someone whose tampon was stuck and it was a HUGE and embarassing task to remove it but that's a rarity.

hahha man... i remember the first time i used a tampon...
i used to be really scared, that it'd hurt or that i wouldn't be able to get it out and all that... it took me hours to finally get it in... and no, it doesn't hurt at all. it's not even uncomfortable. it's only uncomfortable if you don't stick it in all the way.

You probably used one that's too big for you.

---------------

& by the way, you can't lose your virginity to a tampon. You can only lose it to a guy....Or a girl, which is highly NOT recommended.

It would seem that the girls here who don't use tampons think that a) it hurts and b) they won't be a virgin anymore. Both of those reasons are crap. If you put a tampon in properly, you can't even feel it. And you've only lost your virginity if you've had sex. Althought there is a possibility of breaking your hymen with a tampon, it's unlikely and it doesn't mean that your virginity is lost.
