okay..im not asking for an illegal site or anything...
but i was wondering. my cousin gets free ringtones..he doesnt have to pay ANYTHING, and he said he doesnt do it illegal, cuz it comes with his cellphone? well..how can something like that come with your cellphone? and is it possible to get free ringtones, but not make it illegal? uh..... thats all i wanted to know..i dont want any sites that contain any illegal content or anything. |

Some plans offer you so many downloads a month with no extra charge. For the first two months I had my cell phone, I got to try the plan for free, so I got $10 with which I bought games rather than ringtones, but it was my choice.
Also, some phones let you record or write your own. How does one even go about go about getting illegal ringtones? |

my little brother has an LG phone that came with the computer cable thing-y and a CD containing games and ringtones and stuff. and we didnt't have to pay for anything. well except for the phone...

Mine's the same, but some do let you record ringtones. Several of my friends have that feature. And I'm pretty sure your phone has a speaker; it'd be a little hard to speak into otherwise
 . Not everything free is illegal, for the record.

well, my phone, I can transfer songs into into it, then turn it into my ringtone. that's because I have an mp3 builtin in my phone.
But I have heard of legal downloadable ringtones for free before. |

My dad has a pogram where he can convert any media file into a ringtone. Which is where my mom got her Mainstreet Electrical Parade ringtone.
And phones seem to have gotten more technical since mine (which, uh, called people) but even I had a feature where I could create my own ringtone. |

If you have bluetooth, .mp3 ringtones can be very, very, very easily obtained. Just a little audio editing and you've got your own ringtone.
Unfortunately Smartone HK has blocked bluetooth on my phone so mine doesn't have the luxury of free ringtones. =( |

Thats what I do. I have bluetooth on my phone so I just use iTunes to cut the song part I want for my ringtone then send it over.

Maybe he has bluetooth or something. I heard that if you have a nextel you get to download any free ringtones you want.

I know someone who records the ringtone and then text messages it to herself and then sets it as her ringtone. Thats how her ringtones are free. She also can text message them to other people so they can use it as a ringtone too.

first off, i think itd be easier to know what type of phone you have so people can actually help, not just tell you how they do it on their phone.
if all else fails, i have a way thatll work on any phone with internet on it. also, id like to know how you guys do it with bluetooth because my phone has it... |

Well I have gotten two free ringtones, cause sometimes the ringtone companies have "free trials" that dont expire. or just "free downloads".
So, I suppose it just depends on where you look? |

You can look in the Device Manager and see if it has any Bluetooth devices listed.
