THE GAME

QUOTE
Anytime someone dies in the world period I'm upset. It's when they get murdered that it really hits home! For a person to shoot & kill another person there had to be a tremendous amount of hate & envy for the victim. I've had so many of my close homies & even brothers, cousins & my uncle die to street violence. sh*t is crazy homie because I feel like I should've died in 2001 when *****s tried to murder me & leave me for the wolves. Only God knows why I'm here today homie !!! I met Proof early 2002 in a studio in Los Angeles & we clicked right off the back. The same night we were in the studio doing some mixtape sh*t while Em 50 & Dre, were in the back studio working on Get Rich Or Die Tryin. Over the years we became real cool & remained homies throughout all the beef sh*t with G-Unit so to wake up this mornin' at 10:41 am flip open my sidekick & read that the homie was killed due to a bullet in the head just literally f**ked my day. I will end this short letter by saying this, Proof will always be remembered & I as well as the Black Wall street family will keep his memory & his family in our prayers 1.

EMINEM

QUOTE
Eminem issued the following statement Thursday night through his publicist Dennis Dennehy about the shooting death early Tuesday morning of his good friend Deshaun Holton, who was known professionally as Proof.

"You don't know where to begin when you lose somebody who's been such a big part of your life for so long. Proof and I were brothers. He pushed me to become who I am. Without Proof's guidance and encouragement there would have been a Marshall Mathers, but probably not an Eminem and certainly never a Slim Shady. Not a day will go by without his spirit and influence around us all. He will be missed as a friend, father and both the heart and ambassador of Detroit hip-hop.

"Right now, there's a lot of people focusing on the way he died. I want to remember the way he lived. Proof was funny, he was smart, he was charming. He inspired everyone around him. He can never, ever be replaced. He was, and always will be, my best friend."

ROYCE DA 5'9

QUOTE
I am deeply saddened by the murder of someone I called a good friend. I've known Proof for over nine years and will always remember him for the joy and life that he brought into every room he entered. We first met at Detroit's Hip Hop Shop where Proof was hosting open mics and was considered by most to be Detroit's freestyle king. Even then you could tell there was something special about him. Some people might be familiar with a well-publicized beef that Proof and I had a couple of years ago. Thankfully though, we had not only resolved our conflict, but we also restored our friendship. Back in December, we went overseas together for a few spot dates in Europe where we had a chance to catch up on "the good ole days". We both laughed at how we sometimes forget how far we've come, until you look out of your hotel window and see London's Big Ben or Paris's Eiffel Tower. On that tour we had a chance to visit cities we never even knew existed. Not bad for two kids from Detroit Huh. His death is such a loss for the hip hop community, and especially for the city of Detroit. I hope that he will be remembered for the talented artist and great person that he was, and not the tragedy that he fell victim to. My thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family, friends, and anyone that was ever touched by him.

KON ARTIS

QUOTE
"I just don't know how to feel right now," D12's Denaun Porter, known within the group as Kon Artis, told the Detroit Free Press. "It's crazy because we're suffering all these losses. We lost Bugz," an original member of D12 who was shot and killed in 1999 during a picnic at Detroit's Belle Isle Park. "Now we lost Proof. I just don't know, you know what I mean? We're all so messed up. Whatever happened, whoever this dude is, is still around. This is just crazy."

SNOOP DOGG

QUOTE
Snoop Dogg said Proof's death was a loss to the hip-hop community.

"He was a part of the hip-hop family," said Snoop Dogg at the MTV Australia Music Awards.

"We can't stop it (violence) ... we try to ... we try to be as positive as we can and do good things with our lives."

"I just know that every time somebody gets killed in hip-hop we should look at it as a tragedy.

"There's nothing we can do to stop it as hip-hop artists but be who we are and continue to make our good music."

Snoop Dogg was one of the big names to attend the MTV awards, winning the best hip-hop video award for his song Drop It Like It's Hot.

Kon Artis is part of D-12 so I'm sure Proof and him were close. The people mentioned say how they knew him and how long they were friends with him. Just because they were friends doesn't mean that they had to make music together and publicize their friendship.

What happened here in this thread is, people didn't put on the big "OMG i'm soooo sorry he is dead cry.gif R.I.P" act, and stated some truths, and for no reason it was taken badly. Just because somebody is dead, doesn't mean they were a great person, and violence is heavily featured in many of rappers songs, that's a fact, and anybody who says otherwise is either dead wrong, or doesn't know what they are talking about.

One less stupid rapper!

Kidding, I never knew about The Game being in any relatince towards Proof, but I know Eminem got him to be famous by putting them in the group D12 and starting all those songs, like "My Band" and getting them popular.

Didn't know much about him, but I've heard some of his stuff. Sucks.

proof deserved to have been shot. he almost deserved to die. why? he got into a dispute with a bouncer who was doing his job and shot the man. the bouncer enetered critical condition. the bouncer should have never been shot. the nephew should not have been put into a situation where he had to shoot someone in order to protect someone. those are the people i think that need sympathy.

wisen up to what music? songs like "get my gun" "one shot two shot" music produced that basically condone violence as the way to solve disputes.

im sorry im not as "mainstream" or ignorant as everyone else, but these are my opinions based off of truthful facts. if im wrong for thinking this way, please show me how he didnt deserve to die for his actions.

This isn't an "opinion giving" thread. If you have any stupid comments, keep them to yourselves. If you have nothing better to say than "rap brings violence or whatever sh*t you're thinking of" GET OUT of this thread.

R.I.P Proof.

R.I.P Proof.

Not to be the devil's advocate, but denying opinions then calling her comment stupid is just a tad bit hypocritical. Especially if you couldn't dispute her post.

her? ... ima guy.. at least, im pretty sure i am -_- wait... are you talking about me? meh...

oh dear, im pretty sure this thread was created for people's opinions. isnt that just what all this forum basically is? people sharing opinions on the topic posted. if everyone wants to pay their "respects" to someone they never barely knew before he was shot and had tons of celebritys come to his cause go here. there, you can all oppress opinions and respect the dead.

besides, you dont seem to be either a mod or the creator of this thread so you really shouldnt have any opinion on who should be in this thread. especially not someone who flings their own opinions around with no basis.

RIP Keith Bender Jr. the real victim.

Did you read what I wrote? My comment WASN'T directed to anyone in particular.
You're right, this topic was created for people's opinions about rappers' responses and statements to his death. Not about how rap causes violence or whatnot. If you must know, I hate rap because most of it is all about guns and violence...i'm aware of that but that's not what this thread is about. I'm with you on that one but there should be probably another topic for that.
Anyways, if you really want to brag about proof "deserving" to die or whatever your point is, you should probably make a topic for that. If you posted your comment in the right thread, I'll agree with you.
Like I said, my statement wasn't directed to anyone in particular. And oh, I have an opinion on who should be in this thread, it doesn't have to be respected.

With that said, couldn't "culture" also be trying to kill all non-white protestants, aka. the KKK, because if you come from a long line of KKK members, isn't it just your culture to hate anybody who isn't a white protestant?

Actually it's more on topic than the thread itself. The whole point of a post is showing your opinion. That's why the topic was made right? To hear your response? I don't take any opinions bad, you don't care? Fine. That's your choice. I try to make the most of my opinions though.
