Underarm irriation?, Itchy...

Sometimes after I shave, my underarms get really irritated and break out in a small rash and get really itchy. I'm thinking it could be the soap I use to shave, since my skin is really sensitive. Has anybody else experienced this, or do you know what I can do to stop it?

Always shave in the shower, so you're not raking at dry skin. Make sure your skin is slick and clean and don't press down too hard. You might want to get a better razor, and always use a moisturizer after you're done.

I've experienced this before, except it happens when I don't even shave.

I always shave in the shower with soap. Maybe I press too hard? I use a Venus razor... I thought they were pretty good quality.

yeah, you're probably pressing too hard. i shave in the shower with this gel stuff and it works fine. apply lotion or something afterwards.

Yeah, Venus is a good brand. What kind of soap do you use? Do you put on lotion afterwards?

I experienced it a long time ago.

Tips:

1. Get a good razor - venus is good... I use it.
2. Lather with a lot of soap or shaving cream. (Dove is superb for sensitve skin)
3. Use Dove deorderant afterward - "Arm pits to underarms in 7 days"
4. Use Cetaphil lotion after that (it's for sensitve skin)

I think it might be the soap. When I shave, I shave pretty hard and my skin is sensitive as well and I don't get irritation...

I think this belongs in the Health forum so I will move it there...if anyone thinks I'm wrong, feel free to move it back.

I actually don't really like Dove. I react to it, for some reason. I don't use the best soap, I'll try this oat kind that my mom bought for me.
