This will take quite a while, especially since that section is harder to work out. So while you work out, maybe you should think of getting larger sized pants. |

I got the worst news you can imagine. I know from personal experience. Love handles are the last to go. Love handles, armpit fat and underchin fat. You gotta slim down every bit of fat on your body before those love handles go away. Theres no spot reduction for that part of your body. In fact avoid any kind of oblique (thats the muscule under there) exercises because building up you obliques will make them look bigger. Best advice is run, dance, jog, walk and get your heart rate going really strong every single say. eay more complex carb (apples, citrus fruits, melons etc) and stop the snacking. And cross ur fingers.

not true^^ if u use a medicine ball and do certain exercises u can et rid of em first What? Now that is NOT true. Medicine ball exercises TONE. You cannot get rid of fat by just using medicine balls. A combination of cardio, strength training, and eating healthy will help to loose weight. THERE IS NO research indicating that spot exercises work, only overall weight loss will lower fat in the body. |

What? Now that is NOT true. Medicine ball exercises TONE. You cannot get rid of fat by just using medicine balls. A combination of cardio, strength training, and eating healthy will help to loose weight. THERE IS NO research indicating that spot exercises work, only overall weight loss will lower fat in the body. Still, you can help tone certain areas along the way faster then just cardio, strength training, and eating healthy alone. You can get in overall good shape doing those things, but if you want to focus more on your stomach then that helps. Medicine balls are good for resistance, fun as well. First of all, if you want to get rid of "love handles" I suggest you (a) Pick up your running shoes and run every other day (b) Go get the Taebo beginners dvd. (I suggest you do Workout # 2 since it has abs, and also the 8 mind advanced really gets the hip area) It helps. I've used it and it worked for me, getting that hip area and lower abs. Here is a link: TaeBo 2, Get Ripped Basic Workout © You NEED to eat right, try not eating anything from a package, and start eating more raw foods such as veggies and fruits. (d) It helps to get a dvd or vhs that focuses just on your abs and obliques. The best tape I found was Abs of Steel 2 advanced. Workout 1 tones that area right under your bellybutton by doing reverse curls and such, and Workout 2 focuses more on the obliques and where your love handles are. Ok understand this tape is from 1991, but still, I haven't found a better one. It's amazing lol. Abs of Steel 2, advanced Hope that helps! |

I'm not sure if you disagree and if so, which part you disagree with. Toning exercises cannot shed off fat as effectively as cardio and strength training. The author of this topic has a better chance of losing love handles quickly by focusing on cardio and strength training for overall weightloss than using the medicine ball. Yes, they are great for toning... etc, but to lose the handles "FAST"(to quote), cardio and strength and food work best. QUOTE "The 'spot exercise' fallacy assumes that if you have fat deposits on your abdominals, exercisingthe muscles underlying the fat will make it go away. A client who does 100 sit-ups a day for a flabbystomach will increase muscle endurance for the abdomen, but will not burn off the fat in that area." (ACE Personal Trainer Manual, p. 308) The only way to burn fat from your tummy is through prolonged exercise and a healthy, low-calorie diet. That means doing regular cardio exercise, strength training and flexibility training. Don't forget to eat your fruits and veggies too! ^Yes i know all that stuff.
I wasn't disagreeing with you at all. Eating right, cardio, and strength training is the best bet. I was just saying to not disregard the medicine ball, it works effectively, and is great of resistance and to get that extra burn. She wants to focus on her obliques and lower abs, and if she does cardio, strength training, eating right, and focuses on her abs, she'll loose that area quicker. Point: She needs to focus on doing abs and using some sort of resistance in order for her to get the look she wants. She also needs to eat right, do cardio and strength training as a base. Meaning, i was agreeing with you, and adding onto your point that she needs to do something to focus on her abs as well. you can run and do cardio all day, but will get quicker results in the area she wants by running a mile or so and popping in a good 15 minute stomach excercise tape. |
