People normally don't start algebra until 8th grade. I'm in 7th grade Pre-AP (Advanced Placement) math which is the same material as Academic (regular classes) in the following grade, so I'm learning algebra, but it's not for the whole year. There was a 6 week period on algebra, but that was pretty much it (and we applied it here and there in other units afterward).
Well, there's nothing wrong with taking algebra in 7th grade. If anything it'd be to your benefit 'cause you'll always be a step ahead. |

I took it in 8th, and that was early for here, but it's not all that abnormal. Georgia just sucks.
We don't exactly have preAP classes, either.. |

Here, we don't have separate math courses like algebra and geometry, it's just Math 8, Math 9, and some honours classes.
Grade 7 for me was elementary school, where it was even less specific. I'm pretty sure we didn't learn anything about algebra in grade 7, but we definitely had a solid section on it in Math 8 in high school. |

I took Algebra in 8th grade. I wish I took it in 6th...7th grade math was so pointless. We stayed on y=mx+b for about 3 weeks. Not much to learn there. Ugh.

i had pre algebra 5th grade and took algebra 1, 2, 3 in 6, 7, and 8th grades. its harder than regular math but much easier than geometry. just make sure you pay attention in class and ask questions if you need to.
^^i learned y=mx+b 7th grade. it could be because of your school district. different school districs have different rules about how and when to teach their subjects. |

I took algebra in 8th, the earlier the better though, cause then you get a head start in high school and you get to take all the awesome advanced level math classes that otherwise you'd have to take summer math classes to get to =)
I always felt a little jealous of the few people who got to take algebra in 7th, they're gonna get to learn so much more than me (i'm a senior in calculus, but the juniors in my class are gonna get to take higher-level math next year, the top level that i won't be able to get to.. boo) |

I took Algebra 1 in 8th grade. And that's not normal. TUuur. Algebra 1 is a freshman class.
My math career (as planned): Algebra 1 - 8th Geometry - 9th Algebra 2 & Trig - 10th Calc 1 - 11th Calc 2 - 12th Mhm. |

My math schedule:
Algebra 1- 7th Geometry- 8th Algebra 2- 9th Pre-Calc/Trig Honors (this course includes the A portion of Calc AB)- 10th AP Calc BC- 11th AP Stats- 12th The earlier to take algebra 1, the more AP classes you will get. :) |

OH MY GOSH!!! I loved my algebra class in 7th grade best class EVER!! We had all the crazy people ^-^ an they would do the craziest shit ever. It was NEver boring...
Oh... and I thought it was really easy. Got an A, although more than half the class failed. *tsk**tsk* =] lol good luck though! |

yeah i have algebra in 7th grade. During 7th grade i did half of the course. And now in 8th grade im finishing it [Math A]. If i pass this year's math class i get to take the REGENTS exam this year, so i wont have to take it in highschool. But i don't think im taking it >_>

um in 7th grade you either took like regular math or you were in pre-algebra. then in 8th grade you had a choice of algebra 1A (where you took the 2nd half of the course algebra 1B in 9th grade) or algebra 1 (A&B in one year) or you were stupid and got put in lab.
so its like this (for me anyway) 7th: pre algebra 8th: algebra 1A (i got accepted to be in alg 1 but i didnt think i could do it) 9th: algebra 1B 10th: stupid effing geometry |

ahhhhhhidk wtf it was, somethin' like I = PRT just simple formulas.. is that even pre algebra? whatever, i wouldn't worry about it if you're being put in algebra early, that just means youre smart!

algebra 1- 6th grade algebra 2- 7th grade algebra 3- 8th grade continuing algebra or regular/honors geometry-freshman regular/honors geometry or regular/honors algebra 2-sophmore regular/honors algebra 2 or pre cal & trig-junior pre cal & trig Or calculus(sp) ab/bc or something like that-senior |

Yes, I took it in 7th grade, but it was unusual. Everyone in my grade took PreAlgebra and I took Algebra I with the 8th graders.

Yeah I took it in 7th grade, it was the highest placement for our school district. Then I took Geometry in 8th, Algebra II freshman year, and next year I'm taking Pre-Calc.

i had pre algebra as a 7th grader..but i knew a few ppl who were 7th graders taking algrebra...but most ppl were taking pre-algebra as 7th grader...and taking algebra as 8th graders..
