I hate my voice. It sounds like....a cookie. I didn't know why, but for some reason whenever I talk, I am reminded of cookies, and it frustrates me so. Now today in language arts I was talking to my friends. The cookie is greater when I'm with my friends. I listened to my voice and came to a conclusion. The idea finally became real, and though I am still a wee bit peeved, I'm no longer in denial.

It's all sugary and doughy and...bleh.....eet makes cookie. I hope it doesn't annoy people. Perhaps it makes them hungry. Which is almost as bad. cry.gif

What does your vocie remind you of? happy.gif
Do you like it or no?
You've never even thought about it, have you? laugh.gif

Edit: This topic is about voices. Not cookies. It doesn't belong in food.

Hmm, I don't really know what my voice sounds like; I think it sounds different depending on who I'm talking to or what I'm talking about, etc. But, people have told me, on the phone, that I sound really girly...

well, when people hear their voices in their head when theyre talking, it sounds different than if you were in someone elses body listening to your voice. i think my voice is normal..but then whenever i record it, its really low. i hate my voice. its too manly.

There really isn't anything you can do about "your voice." I hated the pitch of my voice for a while because it just didn't jive with my personality. (I'm sort of dark, cynical, sarcastic person and my voice seemed to "bubbly" for me). Eh, well, I got over it. You're going to have to as well. Everyone sounds different and that's a *good* thing. Also (this may be stretching a little bit), but if you really think your voice is really 'cookie' sweet, maybe you could try auditioning for cartoon voice overs or something. I'm not being sarcastic, I'm just thinking, use what you have. In this case, a sweet voice. :)

I suppose you're right. It'll probably change over time though. I'm only 14. XD But if I ever need a part-time job, hey...!

QUOTE
The vibrations produced by our larynx are transmitted to our ears through both the air and our head. We 'hear' our voices through the air and through our body. A recording of a person's voice captures only the information transmitted through the air. When played back, we hear only the portion of the sound that was transmitted through the air, without any of the colourations produced when it travels through our body. If you plug your ears very soundly and speak, you will 'hear' everything you say, but your voice will sound very different than with your ears open.

i was curious as to why our voices sound different to ourselves than they do to other people.

What does a cookie sound like...? huh.gif

I don't really use my real voice. When I talk to that someone special, my voice is all girly and sugary sweet, I play up the innocence when I ask him about dirty things. I like treating him like an old, dirty pervert hehe.gif

My actual voice is just a bit boring and too deep for my liking. It comes out when I'm talking to teachers that I want to just leave me alone when I can't handle flashing the fake smiles to them anymore. It also comes out to people I really dislike.

I speak in a girly, ditzy tone to the teachers I do like...they're usually the ones who's classes I have trouble in so the sweetness makes them adore me and not be able to fail me _smile.gif I haven't run into any of them since sophmore year.

HAHA i must say, the title really amused me. but how do you sound like a ...cookie?! cookies don't sound like anything, they're edible.

i sound different when i talk in mandarin, english or cantonese. when i speak in mandarin, my friends tell me that it's highpitched and cutesy, whereas in cantonese my parents tell me the opposite. and when i speak in english, it's somewhere in between.
how interesting.

My voice is wierd... I used to shudder whenever I heard it on voicemail. It got better - it used to be a little lower on the girl voice box scale (Alto).... i.e.: I can't do a girly scream to save my life

My voice is...hm. I like my voice sometimes. When it's just right...or sometimes when I talk after I just wake up and I sound like a 2 year old. I sound young on the phone. Any cB person that's talked to me has said that my voice doesn't match my face?

And it's soft. That's what I don't like about it sometimes. The bad: PEOPLE CAN'T HEAR ME. And someone said it puts him to sleep :(. The good: sounds calm...serene, you can't imagine a voice like that mad.

Oh yeah and my voice can go really low...lower than some guys usually talk. I scare myself when I do a guy imitation :(. Normally it's not low and I do not sound like a guy :P.

Why my voice sounds like a cookie: It sounds kinda sugary, kinda doughy, and when it's out it's like you can grab it and bite softly into it. It's sooo weird. T^T

Really interesting replies! happy.gif

HAHAHAHA A COOKIE. =DDD I found that quite funny. I think my voice is kinda cookie-esque as well. It's really thick, soft, and kinda nasaly (no wonder French comes naturally). If not a cookie, my voice would be condensed milk.

If I'm using my speech voice, the softness goes away. It reminds me of like...a really thick wall. Deep, forceful.

Mm, now that's a first.
I like the sound of my voice at times, but when I'm nervous, my voice can go really high up.
For example, when I was talking to my boyfriend on the phone a few nights ago, I said something and my voice got sort of .. squeaky, so yeah. mellow.gif

I can sound sweet and nice an stuff (and I don't mean high pitched and girly, and I'm not trying to be conseated either), but I usually forget to use that voice, or rather I slip into a different voice, especially with my family, and it gets lower and ya not so pretty.
I automatically do my nice voice on the phone tho, unless I'm feeling mad for some reason. I donno what my voice reminds me of though...I've thought about it, but I can't pin it down. My voice is pretty...normal, whatever that means.

I used to speak with a light German accent (I'm not German, but my family grew up in a heavily Pennsylvanian Dutch area). My forensics team coach was afraid the accent would hurt my chances in competition, so he got the assistant coach to help me lose it. It's not nearly as noticeable as it used to be.

Apparently to all the cB members I talk to, I sound like Dani (danielle_x3). They can't tell us apart when we're talking on the phone.

Some other cB members said I sound like a little girl...with a bubbly voice.

Haha. Whatever...

Me too. And I have a slight lisp. It's so aggravating.

And also, living in New York, I've picked up a teeny bit of an accent, but only on certain words. And since I'm from Maryland, originally, I sound a bit Southern, but not crazy Southern since it's the northmost part of the South. Which is weird because people from Virginia have crazy Southern accents and they're just to the West of Maryland... hmph.
