personally, i think it really has some negative influence to the children. from the music talking about maffia, abusing women, guns, etc. However, another part of me believes that adolescents have enough sense in their heads to know that it's wrong. Besides, people who produce music wouldnt take a gun and shoot at some innocent person, right?
what do you think? |

I honestly think that part of the hip hop culture might have a negative impact on kids nowadays. Kids see this stuff & they are pretty much made to believe that that's what you have to do in order to fit in. They do know that the stuff is wrong, but they just don't seem to care.

this is a tricky subject. dont make the mistake of lumpin all hiphop together. yes, there are lots of artists whos lyrical content includes the usual mafia braggadocio of drugs, sex, and violence. yet this is not wat all of hip hop is. for every young jeezy there is a common, a rapper who doesnt put down women, treats the female in the highest respect, and raps about real problems in life, not made up, fictional gang-stories that are generally false.
so to answer your problem, yes hip hop is very beneficial, but at the time all that is getting mainstream play is the watered down shit. but to be honest, its the upper-class rich white(some black) youth that support this music b/c they are not from the hood and cant really differentiate between realness and half-ass exaggerated stories. but u could ask this about any music genre. is depressing whiny emo beneficial? is crazy rage-filled rock music beneficial? b/c to me, this shit is just as detrimental, especially the crazy-rock, as hip hop. this shit talks about f**kin ppl up, and havin ppl killed too. its just that no one likes this shit so its not as big of a deal. |

hip hop beneficial?, is it beneficial to the society? Fa sho, it helps me recognize my inner gangsta. Say something? What!!! WHAT!!! Thats what I thought yo.
Honestly I think an individual has the mental competence to distinguish from whats right and wrong. I believe the environment plays a key role on how a child is influenced. Compared to the millions people who listen to hip hop how many people do you know have blamed their poor choices on a song. Everything comes down to not only parent teaching but responsibility. Its no different from other life decisions such as drinking and driving, etc. Just a matter of personal responsibility. |
