Anna's (orginally created by azarel) topic is getting old, and now its the time for a new one. happy.gif What are you taking?

Well for me, I'm not taking Pre-AP US History, because our current teacher has to approve of you (the teacher has to sign your choice sheet), and right now - my Tx. History teacher the worst teacher I've ever had. I would take it, but my teacher is so bitchy about it, so this is my schedule as follows.

1. PreAP Language Arts/Reading
2. PreAP Science
3. US History _dry.gif
4. Alegebra I (later in the year, Geometry - High School Credit)
5. Webmastering 3887 (High School Credit)
6. Health 8851/Foundations of Personal Fitness 8852 (High School Credit)

Btw, I'm in 7th grade, going into 8th grade. shifty.gif Heck yes, in senoir year I get a free elective because I won't need a math class. dance.gif

I don't have my '07 schedule. mellow.gif Ehh, here's my current schedule:

1. P.E.
2. Language Arts (scholars)
3. Life Science (scholars)
4. Social studies (scholars)
5. Pre-algebra
6. Choir

I don't know why all of my classes are scholars; I feel so dumb. Blah.

No clue what order they'll be in, but here's my classes.

IB/AP literature
AP government/macroeconomics (1 semester each)
AP calculus AB
AP psychology
wind symphony [band] (this is definitely 5th period)
oceanology

Oceanology is a slack class I'm taking for the field trips, AP psych should be easy, I love my language arts teacher, but all those APs are going to kill me. 5 f**king AP classes total. Holy hell, I'm not even going to take the calculus exam, but it's still going to cost a ton!!

Yeah. I could take it next year too, but I'd rather take oceanography and drop out of Spanish because 5 years was more than enough for me to know this little.

Hell, we even have AP art.

Band - it was ok, my brother is going to be in it next year. it gave me some fun memories and gave me an extended mind.

Health (High School Credit) - I here its bad by my friend's sis, but my brother says its fun.

gawh. My schedule might jus change. I hit the jackpot, I got in this class with the girl that I like. cool.gif

AP US History
AP Chemistry
AP Language
Honors Algebra II/Trig.
Spanish III
Religion
Volleyball/Basketball

i have no idea why i'm taking AP chemistry. honors chem was bad enough this year, and i'll have the same weird teacher again next year. and i should've dropped spanish and taken a fine art to fulfill that requirement.

Mindy, I don't think my school actually offers that many IB courses. If you're to take psychology as an IB elective, you have to take AP. There's definitely no 20th century topics class, HL or SL, and I doubt there's IB French because just about no one in IB even takes French. They have a two year IB physics course, not chemistry, and economics is taken sophomore year to finish off History of the Americas senior year, though you could take AP econ if you wanted (I am, but only because I didn't do pre-IB). Wow.

1. Science Research (Extra Class)
2. Chemistry
3. English Honors
4. Global History 2
5. Geometry Honors
6. Commercial Art
7. PE 10
8. Religion 10
9. Spanish 2

well, that's it, you can take more classes after school and stuff like that, but i think that this is good enough.

My school is the largest IB school in nation (~4000+ people, not all full-IB).

As far as history goes, I think that we just take an IB History exam. This year, I'm taking History of the Americas, which doesn't include the 20th Century... so I guess we're just learning about that next year? I'm looking forward to 20th Century Topics, though. Getting into modern diplomacy, rather than the Founding Fathers stuff that we've been learning about since fourth grade (not that I don't love the Founding Fathers of this nation).

oh, I guess that's probably about the same then, except that you have it as two distinctly different classes while ours is made to be a 2 year course. In APUSH, we're in the 30s now, though, so I bet they probably won't get to the 20th century this year. I guess that would also be why my friend who didn't take the IB history class this year is going to be allowed to take next year's half. I know what you mean about looking foward to learning about more recent events; while I enjoy reading books set in the colonial period, I find learning that history really dull, whereas I'm able to pay better attention now since it's more interesting.

4 Algebra I C {I passed it but I got a D so I'm just retaking it to overwrite that grade.}
5 Psychology

I love this trimester. It's so easy. ^^

How does that not make sense..?

Anywho. I took health last year. It was easy and all, but the tests were hard. Like, you had to memorize certain things, like, list the five aspects of this or seven of that.

If that makes any sense.

How in the hell is health more fun than band?

Yeah, that makes no sense. Not the sentence itself.

I took online health this summer, because I really didn't feel like subjecting myself to 18 weeks of that crap.

IB Senior year blows:

IB TOK 2
IB 20th Century History
IB Chemistry III
IB Biology III
IB Math Methods
IB English V
Health Careers Honors
(Those are the only IB Classes my school offers to IB Seniors. It sucks. I want Physics, not English!)

&

Chemistry 111

I guess that would also be why my friend who didn't take the IB history class this year is going to be allowed to take next year's half. I know what you mean about looking foward to learning about more recent events; while I enjoy reading books set in the colonial period, I find learning that history really dull, whereas I'm able to pay better attention now since it's more interesting.

We only have 20 IB Seniors this year, and it's the largest IB class at our school ever. Probably only 10 will get the diploma, though. Everyone has to have all IB classes. I can't believe you guys get to choose which ones to take. The only choice we have is Spanish or German, but we finish that up Junior Year.

How in the hell is health more fun than band?

Yeah, that makes no sense. Not the sentence itself.

I took online health this summer, because I really didn't feel like subjecting myself to 18 weeks of that crap.

Maybe the class itself is just generally fun. Maybe the teacher's a cool guy/girl.

I know my geometry class last trimester was a lot of fun, because of the people I had in it. And it was geometry.

You never know who's going to be in your class, though. I've had classes with teachers who were great, funny, and should have had really fun classes that I just couldn't enjoy as much as I should have because I wasn't fond of the people in the class. It's all relative, but at least with band there's some consistancy, and unless the directors just suck, there should be guarenteed positive aspects to it.

Assuming one enjoys playing a musical instrument in the first place. If one enjoys learning about health more than one enjoys learning about music, it's clear to see why someone would like health more.

yeah, but then you have to take common sense into consideration. I don't actually care about playing musical instruments much at all. I like it in theopry, but it's just not my thing like it is for my friends. However, no middle schooler actually enjoys learning health unless they have actual sex education in which they can her things that make them giggle.

That's a pretty big generalization. I don't see what's so hard to fathom about students having different tastes.

Eh, I can understand why she did. While everyone in my band thinks they want to be in hers everytime we see them, they're so good because of all the time they put into it. It's understandable that if you don't really like it, you wouldn't want to waste all your time doing it (although they do have twice as many band members as us, so there must be something worthwhile in it, besides winning things and all that).

See, Michael, I can fully recognize that people have varying tastes.

French is a gorgeous language.

My tentative schedule for next semester:
Brit Lit I
Caribbean Lit: The Novel and the "Philosophy of History"
Intro to Pan-Africanism
New Japanese Cinema (I want this class sooooooooooooo bad, it looks so freakin' awesome).

And, I'd only have class on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, and one on Wednesday nights. I want this schedule bad.

Biology Pre-AP
Geometry Honors
World History AP
English II Pre-AP
Spanish II Honors
Concert Band (I know this'll be 5th period..)
Interior Design(1st sem)/Child Development(2nd sem)
but if I make Winterguard, I'll take that instead of Child Dev. the 2nd semester.
