Man records history, doesn't he?
A hero wouldn't be a hero if no one writes that he was a hero. He'd be just another man, and his history is none existent. |

Man makes history. But not every man. History is dictated by the victors. You win whatever, you get to write the history. That's why history is so biased.

QUOTE Man makes history. But not every man. History is dictated by the victors. You win whatever, you get to write the history. That's why history is so biased. Sadly, that is sooo true, but I'm going to argue for the other side, just for the heck of it History makes the man memorable because if the conditions werent right for the person to act and do whatever it is that garnered them a place in the textbooks, we wouldnt know about them.. Take George Washington for example.. if Britain hadnt imposed all those taxes on the colonies, they would not have wanted to revolt.. in fact, if Thomas Paine hadnt distributed his brochure, "Common Sense", the American Revolution would not have happened, George Washington, instead of leading his country to victory and becoming the first president, might've lived out his life as a farmer on his Virginia plantation, unbeknownest to textbooks today.. so it is because history gave him the opportunity, that he rose up and and became immortalized in American history |

History makes the man.
It influences them on what to do like prior knowledge. If they knew something was the wrong tactic, they wouldn't repeat it. I know someone will take this and go against me. |

A Man Who Knows History Has Power.
Man Makes History, but here is the catch: History repeats itself because those who would repeat it are too stupid to know their history to identify what stupid things they were doing. "It's all been done." And it has. Say twenty years from now the population gets to be a problem in America, and some political figure suggests genocide. A smart man would say "No, that's been done, It was wrong and here is Why" Or someone suggests slave labor(.....Legal slave labor) in America again, putting extra population to use, like unwanted babies, A person who knows his history can say : No. This has been done. It isn't right. It won't work. *Shrugs* |

EDIT :: I had to add this, or else I would be spamming. But those stupid things may not work in one situation, but they may work in another situation. Either way, Man is the one who records history so without Man, there wouldn't be much history to go around. |

History makes the man because seriously look at history.....it tends to sorta repeat itself.....and but eventually we will develope weapons and kill our selves....and then organism will evolve and it will start all over again...its a big cycle....

Maybe so. But I still stand by what I said.
And I agree with what uninspiredfae said too. Think about it. Sure, we are influenced by history, which is saying we are influenced by ourselves because The Choices We Make Determine Our Future. But if we didn't make choices... We wouldn't have a history. If you know you're history you can determine what to do. Sure, we have made advancements, but people generally are the same, and so are the factors: There is and was disease. There is and were different sexual orientations. There is and was hobbies, houses, and political systems. Is man so foolish that he cannot learn from his past and conquer his mistakes? Man makes his History, but too many people confuse that there are influences. The influences are us. |

i think it's a little of both. like, your parents teach you alot and influance you alot (whether you want to belive it or not). so that's the history part. but if a (wo)man makes a big difference in something, then man makes history. no?
