Some drawings from my sketchbook...

I think I'll be switching to Georgia.

Anyway, here's some stuff out of my sketchbook...keep in mind, I haven't been drawing for very long at all. >< Just starting...

Cats
Being in the play Cats inspired me. XD The girl is a dancer in the play and the eye represents the moon, as on the program of the show.

Don't Look
This is a work in progress. The girl is naked and trying to censor anything she doesn't want seen to the world. She doesn't want to see the world either; any bothersome visuals are bad. She's not looking and the world can't look at her, where the title Don't Look comes from. I can't figure out what to draw in the background, so if you have any suggestions, let me know!

Growth
This is probably my best work drawing yet (yea, that's how bad I am XP). The man's mind is curious and the roots of the tree represent his curiosity. As the roots seek and find minerals (knowledge), the tree (his mind) grows. I don't know why the man is Indian, I just really like Indian people.

Longing
I'm sure everyone who's into drawing has done a drawing like this. The girl's face is blank, everything from her memory is grey and blacked out because she doesn't want to remember. She looks out the window at the free air and all of the advances that the world is making without her.

Err, that's all for now. Thanks! :D

Thanks. happy.gif

I don't personally think Cats is that wonderful of a play, as plays go...XD It's actually quite boring. The first time I watched it on video, I couldn't stand it. The only way I thought it was interesting was when I found out who my character was.

Ok, first of all...

I loved the CATS one. I love the music from that show, and the dancing is incredible. I think you really captured the spirit of it in that drawing.

That "Longing" drawing you did. You have no idea....no idea how much meaning is behind it. Or maybe you do since you drew it :) But I see so much in that drawing.
In the "don't look picture" as for the background, really think of what would be behind her. Certaintly not the world and her future, because that could represent her moving forward, she is being held back by herself and her insecurities it seems, and I would draw out her insecurities binding her, if that makes sense?
I will give you full marks on "Growth" for the creativity. I mean, ah i'm just so proud of fellow art students :)
I don't want to get too technical...I mean I'm a person that is REALLY picky on shading, I think shading is what really makes a picture.
But as for your creativity and ability to go deeper with your drawings, i think you are amazing!
post more of your work girl!
man, i wrote a lot!

Geez Katie! Hah.

Thank you, though. :D
Yea, I know my technique isn't exactly up to par, but I've only been drawing non-cartoons for about a month. This is only practice. :P

Charcoals and pencils?
Good start, keep on doing your thing :)

Dig Growth but one question, why is there a circle of shading only around his nose?
Also, his hand positions aren't correct
If you're actually looking at him face to face (ie mirror image), his hands would not look like that, you would see his pinky first then ring, ectect
The hands would only look like that if you were the indian man making the hand gesture

I know it looks weird...they're not actually his hands. You see, his face is coming out of waterish stuff...yea...

And it's all mechanical pencil.
The shading might look weird cause of the flash and where it's focused.

I don't necessarilly like the drawings all that well, but I love the concept in trying to make people think about art. I made sure I made my opinion about the artpiece before I read what you thought while drawing this or you wanted the viewer to admire.
