Who supports what? I imagine most people would be democratic, ya know, cause democrats aren't against life style choices and love the enviroment.

And I misspelled "democrat". Yey.

Hmm...at times I think I'm more liberal that conservative, but I live in a strongly influenced conservative family. I guess I'm in between?

Hey, Kathleen, before I vote, is "independent" the same thing as moderate?

I'm a moderate, and which ever side seems reasonable to me, I'll support it.

How am I acting like a mod? I only asked a question there, buddy, so I could find where I belong in the poll.

Why don't you try to act more mature, and not steal people's skins?

*nods* you're on the dot.

It's hard for me to just say: I'm a liberal or I'm conservative, only because sometimes, one side will make more sense over the other.

So in the political spectrum, I'm neither a right wing nor a left wing.. I'm one of those people that will wait until the last minute to vote to see who'll make the most sense in the end.

I consider myself moderate, although I tend to have a little more Liberal views. I grew-up in a fairly conservative, republican-supporting family however, and I don't always agree with them on some issues.

But I'm not one of those idiot radical Libs who bomb McDonalds or torch SUVs at dealerships to make a statement, or slam gay people and gay marriages like the Cons do.

well, it's difficult to say. i have different stances on different issues, and often, i find that it's necessary to adapt my moral stances to fit our current society.

and honestly, i know absolutely nothing about economics, so i really don't have much of a stance on economic issues. kathleen, how would you justify your position as an economic conservative?

I can't really blame someone for not choosing a party. There's not really any huge difference between the major parties; each party's platform is basically "do whatever it takes to keep power."

however, there is a difference between being moderate and apathetic. and yes, both parties want power but they do have different stands on issues (taxes, abortion, gay marriage, etc).

Sure, they have stands now, but those change with according to the group the party is trying to woe. Look at fiscal responsbility, for example. In the late 80s and early 90s, Republicans clamored for a balanced budget; Democrats were the ones who spent more than the government earned. Now, fifteen years later, Republicans drive a budget deficit, while Democrats clamor for a balanced budget. The only consistency is that the party in power spends as much as it can, while the minority party does everything it can to criticize those in power.

The reason I can understand apathy is that political platforms change with the wind, and taking an active role in politics hardly results in long-term change. Politicians never think more than 4-6 years down the road.

well, what about right now in this year, with the issues facing us now? couldn't they answer based on that at least?

i can understand why some people are apathetic and cynical towards politics (i see what you mean about the constant changes), but i can't support and encourage it.

I took this awsome OK Cupid political test and it said that I was 18% Socially persmissive (basically, I'm socially conservative) and I'm 88% Economically permissive (basically, economic conservative)

According to the test, I'm a Strong Republican. My best friend was almost facist.

Here's the link.

I was between Reagan's left (our left, his right) eye and ear. Heheheh...

I took an online quiz that says I'm a moderate. But, I really consider myself a conservative Democrat. The Bay Area is filled with liberal Democrats that slap me any time I say something even remotely conservative, which is automatically linked to being a Republican. God forbid I say something against abortion. I'd probably get shot.
