Valentine's Day is not for everybody. Of course there are loners out there. INdeed, I am one of them. =/

But Love is such a strong word. Well maybe not for these days. People are saying "I love you" to almost everybody without any meanings. It is like "how are you?", basic conversational pharse. Also almost every Valentine's product selling at this time have BIG WORDS 'I Love You.' What people need to make is having products saying 'I Like You' instead. That will certainly be awesome! Love is such a strong word to use without meaning. So I'm not using it when I'm ready, Keeping the meaning of "I love you" special. Until then... ' I like you ' will do.

She says the world would be better off if 'I love you' wasn't tossed around between couples, and 'I like you' should be the common saying now.

Discuss in relationships! [moved]

GOSH! I LOVE THIS TOPIC. Seriously.

I've said "i love you" to someone i didn't love (my dad) because he sort of forced me to say it. I also said it to one of my early boyfriends, i had feelings for him but didn't love him. I regret it.

I'm currently in love, he's the love of my life and i've told him i loved him. The word love is a very strong word but shouldn't be said unless you really love the person.

haha this is true. but i don't think people really know what "love" is today. i mean i'm not saying that younger kids can't fall in love, but do they really know what love is? i hate it with a passion when kids go out for like 2 weeks and think they're in love already...but i'm not saying it can't occur with older teens. in fact, it surely can and i've seen it happen way too much. i think people of all ages shouldn't throw the word love around. but yeahh..i would really like the "i like you" things instead of the "i love you" for those who actually think about the difference between like and love. i know i sure do now.. wink.gif

Last year, when I was 12, I had very strong feelings for a guy. I wrote a note saying that I loved him, and all hell broke loose. Turns out that I don't love him at all, and I regret saying it.

Lesson learned: Don't say that you love someone unless you 100% mean it.

just because you're a loner doesn't mean that you have to hate valentine's day. i'm a loner by choice yet i loveee the idea of valentine's day. i'm in love with love happy.gif

personally, i think that "i like you" isn't really that great of a phrase... people can like many things, people like coffee or chocolate or dogs or even a cookie. so liking a person isn't really that big of a deal... valentine's day has been so commercialized and overdramatized that saying "i like you" is kind of like a slap in the face when you're expecting an "i love you."

sure it sucks but that's how society has misconstrued valentine's day. instead of a holiday honoring your relationship with your significant other. it's now a holiday where you have to stress yourself out about what to get them, planning a romantic expedition, etc.

but it kind of forces you to do your own thing. like make up your own words to put in a card and express what you feel and what's in your heart.

Whilst I was reading a bunch of shoujo manga, most of the time, if not all the time, the girl or guy telling their significant other "I like you!" The first thing they said was never "I love you," rather it was "I like you." It just goes to show that love is something that develops and takes time to manifest, whereas like is just the first step towards "love." _smile.gif

Although, like can mean different things, right? Like as in friendship-like, like as in like-like (pre-love), and then there's like as in family-like.

Love is such a strong word, thus that's why I'll only use love when it's crucial. But you can't help but admit that you do love someone. No one can define like and love for you--it's your own perception of it.

There should be more things that say "I like you!" That way, I can give more of those things to my friends, to show my appreciation for them! They might be weirded out if it said "I Love You!" because love is a more serious version of like, after all.

I think that "I Love You" is definitely overused these days. I have this friend who has a new boyfriend like every week. Thing is, she "loves" them all. She says "I Love You" at the end of every phone conversation. She can go from loving one guy to five minutes later, loving another guy.
I had this long talk with her and another friend, both of us confronting her about this love. We said that she didn't know what the meaning of love was, and that love should be when you love them and not just their looks, love the good and bad in a person. She then replied that she loves how he gets in trouble for her.
I realize that she wants to love them. She doesn't, but she wants to.
Love definitely is not real these days. There are the few cases where love has been discovered, but love isn't something you find in every guy you meet. It just won't work.

Even though I have a boyfriend, that would be cool if they made "like you" cards

you're right. 'i love you' is too blended in our daily language and conversations. we don't mean it usually too. i don't know how but i got into a habit of saying that phrase to basically everyone. but then again, 'i like you' is not enough to others, they want a stronger, more effective phrase. BUT then again, you're right...'i love you' is turning out to be one of the most commonly used sentences said without meaning

I totally agree. I hate when people overuse that phrase.

I saw this cute valentine card that said "I really really like you." and inside it said, "In fact, I think I'm in LIKE with you." hahaha.

♥ ♥ ♥
I say "I love you" to my friends in a joking way. I've tried
to say it in a caring way but that just doesn't work with them. xD So um...when
I'm talking to my boyfriend, I really, really mean it. With like all my heart. I think
he does, too, but I know that my ex just said it because he pretty much had to.

Its like...if you're in a relationship, you have to say I love you. But you don't
always have to mean it. Love is such a strong word...I don't think it should be
taken lightly. pinch.gif
