Help with LJ basic codes! |

Hey, I'm seriously frusterated with LiveJournal. I just switched from Xanga because my codes were working for a long time then suddenly it all got screwed up. Anyways, my question is, how can I make a basic layout with a header image and sidebar (to where it seems the blog is 'on top' of the image like a blog's div layer for Xanga)? I can't find any of those codes that seem to work, either that or I'm doing something wrong even though I'm following directions
 . Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
