CHEM:
TRICLINIC CRYSTAL SYSTEMS: axinite What type of substances is axinite found in? What are the current/possible economic values of axinite? Explain possible uses of axinite, ie. ![]() help CALC: f(-5)=4; f(0)=0; f(5)=-4 f'(-5)=f'(0)=f'(5)=0; f'(x)>0 if |x|>5; f'(x)<0 if 0<|x|<5 how would you graph that? so we have points (-5,4), (0,0), and (5, -4) what would you do about the derivatives? where does it concave up/down and how can you tell? |

The color, hardness and clarity of axinite crystals make it a quality gemstone as it is able to be cut/faceted for use in jewelry settings. It is also used in the metaphysical community to facilitate change and healing processes although I cannot cite specifics. Try a Google search for metaphysical properties of axinite.
Axinite is found in silicate rocks and druze granite formations. In the US, it is mined in PA and CA. |

find stationary points.... f'(x)=0 determine nature use f"(x) equation and sub in the x values for the stationary points f"(x)<0 concave up f"(x)>0 concave down this is the fast way... your teacher may want the box test for points of inflection make the f"(x)=0 and find x values... |

CALC:
f(-5)=4; f(0)=0; f(5)=-4 f'(-5)=f'(0)=f'(5)=0; f'(x)>0 if |x|>5; f'(x)<0 if 0<|x|<5 ------ 1. plot the points given on the graph (duh) 2. f'(-5) = 0. this means that at (-5, 4), the slope of the graph is zero. 3. f'(0) = 0. this means that at (0,0), the slope of the graph is zero. same thing with (5,-4) okay i suck at explaining. i'll draw--er, sketch really badly the graph. ![]() this should be right....i'm not so great with MS paint. i can explain stuff more if you need me to. yeah so near the right ish, it looks like the slope is zero for a range of values, but its not supposed to be like that. haha sorry, it was the best i could do. also i didn't really draw that the graph had a slope of 0 at (0,0) but it should be. |

Actually, Calc is getting better for me. Maybe because (a) I sit next to someone really boring so I have nothing to do but pay attention, and (b) I now take extensive notes.
