One of the Hindi stories of creation has the god Vishnu sleeping on an eternally long snake, dreaming the world into existence. But what happens, as the thought occurred to me, when he wakes up?
What do you guys think? |

Legend has it that there is a temple in Tibet which houses 64 discs of ascending size on a spike. Beside this spike are two other spikes. A bunch of monks are busy moving the discs from the first spike to the last. They can only move one disc at a time, and a larger disc may never be higher on a spike than a smaller disc. Supposedly, when they finish their task, the world will come to an end.

Those are such interesting stories.... It's a lot more settling compared to the Christian apocalyptic interpretations.
If this is someone's dream, I wouldn't mind it if he slept for a while. When he wakes up? Well... We'll figure that out when the time comes ![]() |

I like this legend better than the Christian's interpretation of the end of the world.

I love these interpretations. Hindu/Hindi (which one?) myths fascinate me.

The religion is Hindu, the adjective is Hindi.

Oh. The Mayans or Aztecs, can't remember which, thought time was a huge big cog, just rotating the wheel of time around and around. When it fell off, approximately predicted to be in April, 2014 (ah!), time would stop and the world would just freeze.

Well, that's impossible, nobody could have 6,000,000,000 dreams at once, each overlapping each other, and, just because the snake is enterally long, doesn't mean his sleep is...

But, I guess it doesn't matter to me. Although they are interesting, to me life is only what you make it to be. |

But what happens, as the thought occurred to me, when he wakes up? What do you guys think? Well, as someone who was raised a Hindu, there's a connection between that question and the concept of maya, which is translated as "illusion" or "dream" from Sanskrit. Hinduism believes that the material things in life are a dream, and that prayer and spirituality break this illusion. |
