learn how to write "tagalog"..., i wonder....

blink.gif OMG! i just discovered that theres a script for tagalog (filipino language)...
now im trying to learn how to write that... its a very old kind of writting but its so cool to learn how to write it, cuz its like a tribal kinda words.... biggrin.gif

whooooaaa i didnt know tagalog had special characters for there words? Are u sure this is real cause I know a lot of old people that lives or has lived in the philippines that speak tagalog and they dont use any special symbols for any word, including my mom. Well idk i need to ask her. But if its real then thats kewl. :)

that's Baybayin, the ancient script of the Philippines. it's the ancient Filipino form of writing, so it's not modern Tagalog. but it really does look like tribal words D:

i can speak some sort of tagalog.. haha.. but i wouldnt want to learn how to write it. great for you & wanting to learn tho.. =]

This is interesting to know, being a Filipina myself. I don't get to learn much about the Philippines since I've been in America all my life.

I know that there are a lot of Muslims in the Philippines, so perhaps that's why it looks Arabic? Just wondering.. Hm.

Actually, I don't think it looks like Thai.. my grandmother's housekeeper is Thai, and she showed me how to write. It's more.. curly is how I would put it. tongue.gif

I knew about that, it's Babayin. It doesn't really fit with the modern Tagalog, so you'd have to acctually learn how to speak the old, old Tagalog to write it. There's no point in learning it anymore, it's wayy out dated. That's before Spain came, mind you.

Wow I'm filipino and I never knew that!! Then again I wasn't born in the Philippines LOL. For those who said it looks like arabic ... that's what I would have said since I was actually born in the middle east! LOL
