I found these very useful intructions posted on the net that showed me how to access my myspace in school. I hope they help! :)

I know a lot of sites offer proxy avoidance.

websense has a good way of detecting it though...

but this year I have found that:

one, your site doesnt work and two, if all of the computers in your school are networked together and myspace is outlawed, they can look up when it was visited and then the teacher can find out who it was.

well i guess my school is strict because if you're in a computer class, you have to use the computer that you sat at the first day because the teacher takes down the number and if you use a computer in any of the art classes, you have to sign in and write down the times that you were on.

also, my school blocked all image sites like google images, ask jeeves, and all those. you can still search on google and stuff, but you cant look up images.

Hmm, no.

Our school blocks Myspace but we can still get around it rather easily.
If you search for "Myspace" on Yahoo, "Myspace Music" is one of the results. If you click on that and go to your homepage through that, you can still get on.

oh, well you cant at our school. anything containing myspace, xanga, whatever is blocked. that includes beta.

i cant download FF at school and we dont have it, so that wont work...

but seriously, you really DONT need to get on myspace... its not that big a deal

(or just get a xanga)

I don't know about school, but work uses St. Bernard and there aren't many sites that *aren't* blocked. You can use a proxy disguise, but your ip is still recorded as going online. AND it can tell them how many times a site is being hit (so if they see that a proxy site is being accessed, they will ask why and subsequently block that proxy site).

I'm with those who say just wait until you get home.

That's interesting, actually, that many sites are blocked on these school computers.

At my school, there aren't any sites that are blocked. =/

our computer teacher at school is pretty smart, FF is already installed on every computer and sites are blocked through it as well as IE

Just search for a free public proxy.

Go to http://www.google.com and search for one of the following terms;

"nph-proxy.cgi"
"Start using CGIProxy"

And you should find hundreds of thousands of websites that allow you to bypass your school's block, though I've heard that some schools punish students harshly who use proxies to bypass the block; so, I might want to look into that first.

But we are not allowed to "surf the web" so even if it wasn't blocked from my school if I get caught I'll be in "Big trouble" But I'm willing to take the risk =]

Actually, that's becoming a normal thing in a lot schools. My school uses a TightVNC setup so the administrator can see exactly what everyone is doing at a particular time. It's pretty effective, too. The librarian will bark at you the second you log on anybody's name but your own (I tend to know quite a bit of my friends and classmates' logins).

yea but the other there were other forums i was able to get to like blogring and like forums from other tv shows. i was able to access.

Damn, I hope our's doesn't have one of those....

I remember trying to access Livejournal through the school computers. www.livejournal.com didn't work, but suprisingly enough, livejournal.com worked. It was sort of funny.

Oh, we just google myspace images, I've also heard that you can change part of the url... I use xanga more then myspace, so I really don't care.

IPcop is one of the HUGE site ban programs that School use, and it goes by cookies. So once you have gone to the site it logs your username every time you try to go to myspace.com then emails the Admin, or in my schools case, the principle. They block at the core, the router, and unless you have access to the router you will not be able to fix it. Plus if you are caught you can loose computer privileges and junk, its also illegal in some states to tamper with School computer setup or w/a…

Our school rocks, they do not block anything.

Do people not know about proxies? OP... people have been able to access Myspace or even Porn sites anywhere since Myspace first came out.. lol
