Okay so like me and some friends were like doing the whole Secret Santa thing. Coincedentally me and a friend got ourselves. The problem is, I don't think she spent any consideration at all to my gift and here I am, thinking if I should give her a nice pencil/the original gift that I ended up wanting for myself. To make it simplier to understand, give her a semi-meaningful gift like she did to me, or not?

I wouldn't recommend getting her stationary, unless she's that kind of person. I say get her a gift card like Suzette said and a nice Christmas card. And if you want to make it look long. Write real big.

Get her like a 5 dollar gift set from places that everyone usually likes. Like spray sets, at bath and body works or stationary, pencils, sticker set things you can get at any hella kitty.

omg...that's exactly what happened to me! i got her an almost 40/50 dollar gift and all i got was this rinkydink iPod holder...it's super cute, but it was already falling apart! the rest of the gift was drawings and stuff she made for me...it was all so cute and [[meaningful]] but i wish i knew she was gonna do that before i spent 50 dollars on her and made her something, too...>>point?<< do both....spend the money on her, and do the meaningful gift...

hehehe. I'll try what you guys told me next time. I ended up giving her the original gift and she was thrilled. I think she might even make me something to make up for it. It's weird, everyone I asked said "it's the thought that counts" and that kinda rubbed onto me and I didn't really mind it afterwards.
