yeah i know it sucks...the hacking community enjoys to have like contest to see who can deface the most sites...:T

they'll get caught eventually...or they'll turn their hacking talents to something much more productive. theres like some convention where they test hackers skills and people recruit them to strengthen their sites and stuff.

lol maybe i got off topic.

ATTENTION:
I have the solution to this problem. Read the following.

Sign into safe mode, click "Weblog Entries", then delete the posts with viruses... and pop! they're gone. _smile.gif

And....
xanga users -

DO NOT CLICK THE SUBSCRIPTIONS PAGE unless you want your xanga to get infected.

But yeah, it's getting pretty bad.

Hackers get a bad reputation, primarily because the term is applied incorrectly. A hacker is just a person who exhibits the spirit of learning about computers. They don't do things malicious. A cracker, on the other hand, is one who hacks for malicious intent.

(And on a side note, I'm moving this to Technology.)

According to Merriam Webster a Hacker is someone who illegally gains access and sometimes tampers with computers or information therein.

And Wikipedia is quoted as, "In computer security, hacker translates to a person able to exploit a system or gain unauthorized access through skill and tactics."

Anyway, Ive never had problems with hackers, through my journals, AIM, or otherwise.

Nah, you gotta go back in time, to when the term was coined. It's been manipulated by the media, but at its hard, a hacker is just someone who creates and/or modifies software or hardware. The term "cracker" is the preferred term for a malicious hacker. I'm not sure what you quoted from Wikipedia, because Wikipedia's "Hacker" article begins, "Hacker is a term used to describe people who create and modify computer software and computer hardware."[1]

Wasn't the term hacker first applied to mechanical inventions, even before it was used to describe someone who broke into computer systems?

Well, that's the thing, it wasn't first used to describe a person who broke into computer systems—it was first used to describe a person who wrote program code.

Actually, it was FIRST used to describe someone who cut away at something without skill or forethought.

But thats hardly the point. The term, as coined TODAY, is describing someone who breaks into computer systems, and if MW says it, it must be true.

the only owning youve done is by cheating in the arcade and just by having your name with a score of 345346500983490687346987349687349573453 doesnt really equal anything.

Don't you just hate it when passwords are so simple, that any script kiddie can crack it with a brute forcing program?

Yes, thats why you have to use a combination of letters and words with a sum of 8 or over.

So forexample, you wouldn't use, "createblog", as your password. Since there are billions and billions of people who know that word. tongue.gif

But, you have to use a word like, Oh I don't know... Blogring. Since no one knows blogring.
Yeah, Blogring, psh... whistling.gif

The people that run xanga do not know what they are doing, they run Windows servers, plus they did not even right the code. So if something goes wrong, they have to contact the manufacture. I would like to be pulling the ad sale profit into my pocket though.
