at my school, it is mostly made up of teens that come from wealthy families. i can't really do anything to change that but one thing that really pisses me off about those certain people is THEIR CARS!! specifically the sophomores & freshmen. hammer.gif

even if the kids CAN afford (which it's usually the parents who put up the money) their own F-150's, Escalade's or Explorers..i don't think that their parents should allow them to get (or pay for) those kinds of cars. mellow.gif

first of all, they ARE 15 & 16 YEAR-OLDS!! and second...it's probably their first cars everrr and they get something like that..?

don't get me wrong, not ALL of the people that go to my school are in that kind of situation but the ones that are just make me upset. you may be thinking "oh, he's just jealous blah blah" but that's not the case. of course i'm a little jealous but who wouldn't be..? wacko.gif those are niiiiice automobiles but i would want to get a ... lower class car first and then after high school or some later date, get a bigger/nicer car...

-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --

does this happen at your school ? what are your opinions ?

That'd piss me off, too.

Rich kids who get their parents to buy cars for them, sometimes when only they have their permit. I guess they can do whatever they want, it's their money.

I'd get a used car or something and then get a better one later on because I know my parents will not buy me my own new car.

oh yeah..this reminds me, the girl that sits behind me in geometry...this was my convo with her last week:

her: so yeah, my parents bought me a new mustang for my sweet 16.
me: WOW! that's cool. did you drive it to school today..or do you still have to buy a parking pass from the front office?
her: laugh.gif oh, *laughs* i can't drive it yet. i still have to get my permit next month.

WTF..? why would you buy someone something they can't use..especially when it's as big/expensive as a mustang? >:O

Oh, I live in NYC, and practically no one here drives to school. I'm not sure if anyone at my school does have a car, because we all usually take mass transit.

A lot of people go to school driving, but most of them are ok looking cars, nothing too expensive.

I go to an upscale private school. There's a lot of Audis or expensive SUV's driven by students.

Yeah, that happens a bit at my school. But my school is so different with all of our little clicks that you can never tell. But I remember at my old school there was this group of girls who would come to school wearing different shit every day. EVERY DAY. And it was always expensive things. I always envied them so much >:)

lol that made me laugh thats stupid though. i say for a first car you should get one of those used old cars cause if you mess it up bad it wont hurt as bad to have that car gone. until you get more experience behind the wheel dont get those fancy kind of cars because if your still learning how to drive that car is bound to get in an accident. so they should wait a bit and then get a fancy car so they don't blow most of their money on a one thats going to get messed up anyway.
and when you mess up a nice fancy car it cost even more money to fix it up....

most of the seniors here can't drive yet, because in taiwan, you have to be 18 to get your license.

but i know, kids here have/have gotten: mercedes benz's, bmws, honda civics, etc.
damn rich kids hammer.gif

haha, reminds me of some Sweet 16.

I discovered that Sweet 16 just may be the propaganda show that terrorists use to incite hate toward America.

at my school 9 out of every 10 drivers has a pretty nice car
maybe not top dollar, but their parents shelled out some money for them.
i can only actually think of 1 person with a really lousy car.

i personally can't wait until i cant drive. i have my heart set on an old junker caddy.

a girl at my school got a $14,000 mitsubishi eclipse and another got a brand new cougar...for their first car. oh, another got a brand new 2005 honda civic. i dont understand the point in that. sure, it may make you happy to see the joy they get out of it, but my car was only $1300 (which was very good especially the conditions. it is A LOT better than the people that spend like $2000-$5000 on a car. i just got lucky i guess) and im perfectly happy with it. yes, i think those girls are spoiled, but theyre really cool. i dont know. it seems like a waste though because they arent experienced drivers and all the stuff that goes along with it. actually, a lot of people dont care if they crash their "new car" because theyll just get a new one. im like wtf? my parents would tell me to ride my bike. my parents arent even that bad off either, they just understand more about new drivers.

Yes, this happens at my school. This one kid actually wrecked three really nice cars and his parents kept buying him new ones. His fourth one has a dent in it right now. I have a piece of shit car and I would never expect my parents to buy me anything different while in high school.

Well, in the school district next to ours, there was a kid who got a BMW when he got his permit. Either the same day, or the next day, him and his friend got into an accident and died.

My relatives and friends that go to that school knew him too.

Actually... I heard that getting older cars as your first car is better than getting a new one... something about insurance or some sort. Don't take my word for it though. I'm unsure.

let's move this to cars?

I don't think it's smart to have an expensive sports car as a new driver. Too much for gas and insurance. My first car (probably in two or three years) will probably be one of those sensible efficient cars.

Topic Moved.

I think it is kind of retarted to get a brand new car for a first time driver. They are going to wreck it anyways, so just get them a car that isn't that new.

UGH. i know EXACTLY what you mean. im at the blue valley district in overland park, kansas which is the wealthiest school district in the country. everyone here has millionaire daddies and get mustangs for their 16th. theyre so unexperienced with driving, so i think its just a waste of money if they crash.

my dad isnt getting me a car until im 18. but im perfectly fine with that. i dont need a mustang or a range rover to survive. a honda would be great if i could get one now. (im 16) ive never even driven anywhere by myself. so id definitely make a mistake and get myself hurt. 2 years more of driving and i should be all set!

Yes frankie, I know what you mean completely. There's this girl named Hanna Walt, she's had 3 different colored BMW's in the last 2 years. Her Freshman year, she had a silver bmw, the next year she got a royal blue one, and now she has a black one.

FINALLY-Someone else saw it my way! I know what you mean, man. This happens my high school too, and I'm a Senior at my school. And there's these little sophomores and juniors getting the brand spankin' new Lexus, BMW's, Mercedes, even a Escalade. It's like wtf, ya know? THAT'S THEIR FIRST CAR?! Gees, their parents must be filthy rich or just damn spoiled to have one of those. I don't the majority knows the value of money or even works for that matter. I, for one have a OLD 91' Toyota Corolla; when I'm talking about old, I MEAN OLD. But I don't care, as much as I do want a brand new Scion TC (Shut up, you people who don't like this car-I DO.) But see, I can deal and plus I agree with my dad on this when he says that if I do get in accident or anything like that. That hey, that car can get all mess up and at least it's not a brand new car going to waste. But I know what you mean, it's mess up seriously.
