hey i was just wondering, can and how does a country that gets kicked off the UN? and if a country gets kicked off, and that country's dictator starts killing and torturing their people, is it justified to assassinate that dictator?

would this go in debate?
anyhow, i know why taiwan was "kicked off" the UN. in the late 70s early 80s i believe, China wanted to join the UN. And at that time, Taiwan was in the UN under the name of "China" as well, however, there cannot be two "chinas" as the UN accorded, so therefore, one had to go. Because the UN saw more potential in China and the fact that it was much bigger than Taiwan, Taiwan was made to resign and China took its place. |

QUOTE(highfashion @ Dec 7 2005, 4:40 AM) Theoretically, a country can lose recognition as a sovereign state if the UN General Assembly votes to stop recognizing it (as happened with Taiwan in the 1970s). Of course, this is very difficult to do. However, if the General Assembly votes to stop recognizing a nation, it would lose its seat in the UN. Since this question was answered and we have a thread in debate about the justifaction of political assassination, I'm going to direct you to that discussion and close this topic. http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=111437 |
