my first colorization, =] Options

so i decided to try my hand at it =] hehe..i did it quickly in ~20 minutes to see if i could colorize and surprisingly..its not as hard as i thought..that is if im doing it right



well i hope its ok..>.<..im not quite sure how to do the makeup yet..lol..someone teach me how to do makeup? the blush and eyeshadow stuff

That's pretty good for a first but part of her eyes are still gray the make-up just looks a tad weird maybe reduce it? Also the edges kinda look choppy since there are tads of gray there too. But other than that it's pretty good!

sum things to work on: well when i colorize i do the skin first, colorizing over all the facial features, then i erase whatever i dont want that color. if you did that, you'd have less grays [ie neck,mouth...].

your colors are natural and everything is really well done. GReAT JOB

Seriously, my first colorization is way suckier than yours. Yours is truly amazing.

for the blush, i do it differently everytime haha.. um =S
go to layer>> new fill layer>>solid color.
change the blending option to color
then fill the layer mask so its all black
then i juss use the airbrush(on low opacity and set on white) and color where the blush should be [high up on the cheek bone]

then if anything doesnt look right, on the layer mask i juss color in what's not supposed to be there in black so that part disappears

I think that looks REALLY GOOD for a first colourization! I like it a lot.

Here are some tips!
- you can colourize the WHOLE image with one colour for the skin, and then colourize other stuff overtop after. It'll still be a different colour, but this way you won't get gray outlines =p
Oh, and a great thing about doing it this way is that you can do eyes really well. After you're done colourizing the whole image, select the eyeball part and lower the saturation so you still have a bit of colour.

- I think you've got the general idea of eyeshadow down; remember that even though it's a colourization, it doesn't mean you always need to use colour as a layer mode. Try out the other ones! I find myself using Linear/Colour burn for eyes a lot. As for lips, I use a lot of Overlay/Soft Light's.

- For blush, I use the lasso tool and set it to...20-30. I select the apples of the cheeks and fill with a soft reddish/orangey-pink, not too light. Almost a corally colour. Then I use "Colour" as a layer mode. If the blush is too dark, then I lower the opacity. =p

- For black hair, usually I still stick with a brownish colour. No hair is truly gray anyway, not even black hair. In the light it carries brown undertones, so maybe changing it to a less saturated brown would be a better fit.

that's really nice for a first colorization. but the eyeshadow is a bit overdone.
