That's all I see when I read your post.

I used to want to work in the videogame industry. Actually, I still do, but I've given up on the dream. Then again, it's not the dream job you may think it is.

It's a small industry. Not a lot of availability. And when it's crunch time for a game, you're not allowed to sleep!

It would be fun to intern maybe. I might intern. If they find me.

I don't want anything to do with the videogame industry, but I would like to make a nice little php multiplayer turn based strategy game. That'd be fun.

Yeah same here. I've seen how video game projects go and it doesn't look easy. Plus it's a pain to learn all the codes and know how to use them. Blah business is much easier.

this seems a bit racist to me...you assume cuz i'm black ^^. and i guess all those articles and research i've done about the availability of the jobs in the industry is wron. and i know its not a dream job but its something i've always wanted to do my entire life since i layed may hands on super nintendo. thus the reason i plan on doing many more things before i go into that industry...plus i'm already taking a class and working on a video game of my own...

Racist? HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Read your first post. You write "on hurr." You made me think of how hip hop culture is colliding with videogames (Marc Ecko's game and 50 cent's game, as pictured). I doubt these games will be any good though.

I don't mean to burst your bubble. If you have the dedication, go for it. I just want you to know that it's not just playing games. If that's what you want to do, work for a videogame magazine.

Yeah. From what I hear, working in the videogame industry is an extremely stressful job. There was a blog by the wife of an EA game designer that described the way EA programmers are treated. It wasn't pretty. It's available here.

Yeah, saw that a few months back. That was during the whole Evil EA thing, when they tried to take over ubisoft, got a monopoly on NFL licensing and were pushing their workers hard.

Yeah, programmers have it rough with a lot of big companies.

But at least with video game design, there are other jobs than just programming--story, artwork, music, that sort of thing.

Im actially on my way to starting my post-high school educational road to becoming a video game designer.

Although I know almost nothing about programming... Hehe.

At any rate, I thought Mark Ecko looked cool.

i would wana work for insomniac or Ubisoft, not EA. EA's games are half ass, though they make the most money, they dont work together nor care about their employees as much. they just care about money.

Ha ha, I'm sure every guy once wanted to be in the gaming industry when they were young.
And then they learn a few years later how hard it is, and perhaps there's something better out there.

The gaming industry sure would be interesting; not something I'd aim for though.
